OVERVIEW

Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur successfully conducted Joint Admission Test in

online mode in two sessions on February 9, 2020 (Sunday). The examination has been
conducted in 6 major subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Mathematical
Statistics, Biotechnology and Geology.

In JAM Mathematics Paper, most of the question were Conceptual and Formula Based. As
per the analysis, we have found that JAM 2020 Exam was Moderate to Difficult level, most of
the focus given on Section “C” Numerical Answer Type because this section was Slightly Difficult
as compared to previous Exam.

The objective of JAM exam is to provide admissions to M.Sc. (Two Years), Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D.,
M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree, and other Post-Bachelor Degree Programmes at the IITs and
Integrated Ph.D. Degree Programmes at the IISc and to consolidate Science as a career option
for bright students across the country.
IIT-JAM 2020 EXAM PATTERN & MARKING SCHEME FOR MATHEMATICS

▪ Mode: Online mode i.e. Computer based Test (CBT).

▪ Duration : 3 Hours

▪ Pattern:

✓ Total Question – 60 Questions

✓ Total Marks – 100 Marks

✓ The entire paper will be divided into three sections, A, B and C. All sections are
compulsory. Questions in each section will be of different types as given below:
