THE GOOD LIFE = EUDAMONIA OR HAPPINESS & VIRTUE

- WE HAVE DIFFERENT MEANING OF GOOD LIFE.

- Correct pursuits may lead to flourishing (highest attainment)
- Actions matter is the most important thing.
- Actions makes us ether good or bad.
- Wrong pursuits may lead to tragic consequences.

ARISTOTLE

- How we actually understand the goodness.

- The good is based n the idea of what is good for the specific entity under consideration
- Deeper meaning of good life.

NICOMACHEAN ETHICS

- All human activities aim at some good (true). Every art and human inquiry, and similarly every
action and pursuit, is thought to aim at some good, and for this reason the good has been
rightly declared as that at which all things aim.
- How we used or utilized it, technology kaya nagkakarooon ng problems.
- It is all concealed in human mind but when we use it is become uncanceled

THE 4 PILLARS OF THE GOOD LIFE

1. HEALTH
2. WEALTH
3. LOVE
4. HAPPINESS

THE GOLDEN RULE

- Confucius: what you do not want done to yourself, do not do to others.

- Famous: for self-discipline, self-attainment and character development
- “Virtuous action begins with sincere thought”

5 philosphical view

MATERIALISM

- The materials that we consider as fundamental substance in nature, and that all things,
including mental aspects and consciousness are results of material interactions.
- Creats a good life in people is come from materials. Affected by materials that is around us

HEDONISM

- Is a school of thought that argues that the pursuit of pleasure and they are intrinsic good that
is important goal in human life. 2 PS “pleasure and pain”
- Pleasure – pleasant feeling or experience to human: contentment euphoria satisfaction love
and etc. These are pleasant feelings
- Pain – unpleasant feeling or experiences. Ache, agitation and agony.
- 2 PS motivate humans.
- Follow what you feeling

STOICISM

own laws, free from the shackles of a God that monitors and controls.
- Do things on your own, God is the only way on how to do.
- Legislate own laws masyadong magulo

Least to greatest. Atleast 1-2 sentences in discussion board.

1. For me, my most priority is the Theism because I believe that God must put first at everything.
God is my center and all of the things that I do is dedicated to him.
2. Second for me is Humanism because even though that I believe that we have our own freedom
to carve our own destiny, we must put God first at everything and all of that will follow. It is true
that we mustn’t rely our destiny on God but I think it is okay to seek an advice to him so that you
can move forward on what are the things you have doubt in mind.
3. Hedonism is the third for me because I believe in pleasure and pain just like the moral
development of Lawrence Kohlberg that a person or child is doing things based on pleasure and
pain that is given by the society. For me, if I feel pleasure I always strive it to maintain it and if I
experience pain, this is my motivation to strive more to feel the pleasure that I’ve wanted for
myself.
4. Fourth for me is Materialism, because I am not into materials although sometimes it bribes me
but in all materialistic things doesn’t move me to do things that is pleasurable or not.
5. Lastly, the least philosophical view for me is Stoicism, because as I said before I believe in
pleasure and pain and it strives me to become good and move forward. So, for me stoicism is a
challenge because it doesn’t allow our feelings to be valid in all the times.
