Equity Teaching Philosophy Outline Instructions
Instructions: Individually, you will develop an equity teaching philosophy that you believe
describes your approach to teaching all students, but especially those in high needs school
communities.
Complete the following ETP Outline with bulleted phrases, and an image as appropriate. The
ETP must be based on your own opinion and experiences, strongly supported by academic
references. Accepted academic sources include published academic books, peer-reviewed journal
articles, and official data websites. The course textbook should be your main source of reference.
In addition, you must cite at least two other academic sources. All quotations and references
must be cited in adherence to the APA format (7th edition). This ETP paper outline should not be
longer than 3 pages.
Provide a captivating introduction to your ETP with a good overview of the paper and how it
unfolds. You may wish to complete the other sections of the paper before completing this one.

Use a suitable image to illustrate your points on the differences between equality and

What is a common understanding of educational equity in schools?
Should schools and the education system provide students with educational equality or
equity? Why?
What are some ways in which schools enact (or not) educational equity?
Use additional academic sources to support your arguments.
III. Definition of social justice. This has to be your own but supported by academic references.
V. How this course and other teaching courses that you have taken influence your equity
teaching philosophy (Not required to be completed at this point).
VI. Conclusion: State and explain your equity teaching philosophy. Provide examples and
academic quotations to support your statements. (Not required to be completed at this point)
VII. References: List your reference sources in adherence to the APA format. You must include
the textbook, at least two other academic sources, and the source of the image you have
included.
