FELISBERTO VERANO NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
CORTES, SURIGAO DEL SUR
First on the agenda was DO 31 s., 2020 or the Guidelines for Grading. The
guidelines on how to evaluate student learning was discussed by the adviser to the
parents for them to be aware of how the grades of the learners are computed. The
assessment components and the weight distribution of each learning areas are
emphasized.
Next on the agenda was the election of parents-teacher officers. Mrs. Emelyn H.
Samontina acted as presider of the election. The newly elected Homeroom Officers
are the following.
Peace Officers:
1. Marilyn D. Oracion
2. Leizel B. Ocoy
The newly elected officials vowed to do their duties and attend incoming meetings
and actively support and participate in any school activities. Other matters and
concerns then followed after the election of homeroom officers which includes;
It was found out after the PABASA conducted by Mrs. Jennilyn Anding, Grade 7
English Teacher, that a great number of Grade 7 students have difficulty in
reading. It was mutually agreed by the parents and teacher that parents will help
in resolving this problem by letting their child/children do reading drills at home at
least 10 minutes every day. This is to help the students improve their reading
skills. The prescribed school uniform was also tackled during the meeting. There
are students who have no school uniforms because some of them are transferees
and some outgrown their uniforms. Due to this, it was agreed that students will be
allowed to wear casual clothes as long as it still adheres with the school’s
guidelines on proper attires. Proper haircut for girls and boys was also added. Boys
must be cleaned cut and girls must tie their hairs for proper grooming.
The last concern raised by the teacher was all about the compulsory
credentials of the students that must be provided by the parents. This includes
their birth certificates and their school form 9 or the Learner’s Progress Report
Card. There are students who have no pertinent files which the parents gladly
promised to submit before the quarter ends. The recently concluded Homeroom
Parents-Teacher Conference is a manifestation that parents are willing to give their
all-out support for their child’s well-being. Their willingness to attend the
conference despite of the distance just proves that they are doing their part as
partner stakeholder of the institution.
The adviser ended the meeting with a prayer and expressed her gratitude to the
parents for their attendance and for giving time to actively take part in their
student’s education. The meeting ended at exactly 10:00 in the morning.
