This document introduces the Open Hemispheric Brain Dominance Scale 1.0, which was developed to assess an individual's preference for left or right brain hemisphere dominance. The 24-item inventory measures agreement with statements on a 5-point scale. It is intended for educational and entertainment purposes only, not as psychological advice. Open Hemispheric Brain
Dominance Scale 1.0
OLEH : VITHIYAAVATHY A/P NITTIANATHAM (M20211001592) INTRODUCTION
THE HUMAN BRAIN IS SPLIT DOWN THE MIDDLE,
DIVIDING IT INTO 2 HALVES WITH A SMALL
CONNECTION AT THE BASE.
IN THE LATE 1970S THAT IDEA INDIVIDUALS WOULD
HAVE A PREFERENCE FOR ONE HEMISPHERE LIKE THEY
DO FOR HANDEDNESS BECAME POPULAR.
INTRODUCTION
THIS IDEA WAS PROMOTED A LOT AS AN EDUCATIONAL
TOOL, THAT THE DIFFERENT HEMISPHERES LEARNED IN DIFFERENT WAYS AND SO TEACHING SHOULD BE TAILORED TOWARDS A PERSONS PREFERENCE. THERE IS NO EVIDENCE FOR INDIVIDUAL PREFERENCE IN HEMISPHERE AND THE USEFULNESS OF DIVIDING PEOPLE ON THE BASIS OF THE TRAITS ASCRIBED TO THE HEMISPHERES IS NOT CLEAR. INTRODUCTION
THE OPEN HEMISPHERIC BRAIN DOMINANCE
SCALE WAS DEVELOPED BY SELECTING ITEMS THAT CORRELATED WITH FIVE OTHER PUBLISHED LEFT-BRAIN RIGHT-BRAIN TESTS. PROCEDURE THE INVENTORY CONSISTS OF 24 ITEMS THAT MUST BE RATED ON HOW MUCH YOU AGREE WITH THEM ON A FIVE POINT SCALE WHERE 1 = DISAGREE 3 = NEUTRAL 5 = AGREE
IT SHOULD TAKE MOST PEOPLE 3 TO 5 MINUTES TO
COMPLETE. PARTICIPATION
YOU USE OF THIS ASSESSMENT SHOULD BE
FOR EDUCATIONAL OR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY. THIS IS NOT PSYCHOLOGICAL ADVICE OF ANY KIND. INSTRUCTIONS FOR EACH QUESTION 1 - 20, IN THE BLANK PROVIDED RATE THE ITEM ON A SCALE FROM 1 TO 5 ON HOW MUCH YOU AGREE WITH THE STATEMENT. FOR EXAMPLE, IF YOU AGREE COMPLETELY WITH QUESTION ONE PUT DOWN A FIVE IN THE EMPTY SPACE, IF YOU ENTIRELY DISAGREE WITH IT PUT DOWN ONE, IF YOU ARE NEUTRAL OR UNSURE PUT DOWN A 3. https://www.canva.com/design/DAE187DzOEU/share/preview? token=I5iES_EMhAbf6ktB3jeHPA&role=EDITOR&utm_content=DAE187DzOEU&utm_campaign =designshare&utm_medium=link&utm_source=sharebutton
