Inside Submarines

Understanding:

1. How critical is it to be a crew of a submarine as shared in the first


stanza?
We all know how dangerous the ocean is, especially for those who are
working and staying for months, such as the crew of a submarine. However, it is
challenging for them as a crew of submarines because of the reason that they
will be able to attain the secrets and darkness of the ocean.

2. What is meant by chasing after secrets and the darkness of the


ocean ?
Working on a submarine is quite challenging due to the fact that we may
face difficulties when at ocean. These allow us to see the secrets of the ocean's
beauty, yet I think the darkness is the problems and difficulties that a crew
submarine may encounter underwater.

3. Can a life jacket save life when a submarine has been hit by anything in
the water?
In my opinion, no, a life jacket cannot save a life when a submarine has
been hit by anything in the water because of the reason that life jacket is
designated or used to save someone who is drowning in the ocean.

4. How can the persona slice the earth in half along the dotted line?
Which is referred to as the dotted line?
In my opinion, the persona sliced the earth in half along the dotted line,
allowing him to cross the water at the dotted line and I think that the dotted line
represents the ocean's surface.

5. Why was he trying to slice the equator?


In my opinion, he is trying to slice the equator because of the fact that to
divide the earth and have a division by slicing the equator, but unexpectedly,
someone held his hand to stop his plan to slice the equator.

6. Who probably is this someone?


In my opinion, I think this someone is one of the crew inside the
submarine, because of the fact that he is narrating his experiences in the ocean
while inside the submarine, and the difficulties and challenges that he encounters
either secrets and darkness of the ocean, which make me think that it is really
dangerous for them to work in the ocean.

7. What could happen when he sliced the earth?


In my opinion, when the earth is being sliced, I guess it may cause division
in every part of the earth and there will be many different parts and pieces of the

earth. Moreover, the earth no longer looks the same as before, and many things
can happen when the earth is being sliced.

Valuing:

1. Imagine the sliced earth. Does the word ‘someone’ give a sound
reminder?
Yes, because of the fact that if he sliced the earth, everything could be
changed easily and we could encounter a very big problem on this earth. And it is
a sound reminder, and the person who stopped slicing the earth said, "water will
fall into the void, and then our submarine won’t have any place to dive," which
means everything will be affected and will go wrong on earth and it is up to him to
decide if he is going to slice the earth or do the right thing.

Elements of Poetry:

1. Pick out the figurative languages used in the poem. Tell how each
adds beauty to the poem.
The figurative language used in the poem is personification. This is
because it can be imagined to symbolize a thing, an idea, or a concept. This
uses words to explain something that isn't being done literally by someone. It
doesn't display the literal meaning, but if you understand well, you'll be able to
figure out what they mean. Through this, it adds beauty to the poem. The poem
enhances its attractiveness by providing specific, vivid, and passionate insights
for the reader. These devices can also help to emphasize and clarify information
in a way that relates to the reader's senses and emotions.
