What would happen if internal criticism were not practiced by historians?
Internal Criticism is an element of historical methodology that establishes the veracity of the
information in the document. Meaning that we are defending the veracity of the primary sources
or documents through internal criticism. Internal criticism is the result, not practice. First, even if
the main source is false, historians continue to assert and validate it. Because we are putting our
faith in something that has never been done before, it would generate turmoil and be difficult for
us. In addition, it is challenging for us to comprehend and study history because sources are
crucial to learning everything. We could Face struggle if not being practice. Last, the historical
evidence would not be utilized well in learning about our history, Historians could argue to their
stand just to justify the evidence. It checks the physical characteristics of the papers to see if they
are the primary source, unlike external criticism. When was it typically written? How was it
written? How come it survived? In Positive Critique, also known as Internal Criticism, the
researcher and exegete engage in positive criticism to restore the meaning of words, regardless of
who the true author is. Meaning that we could explain the second story or eyewitness testimony.
The primary documents' internal coherence and accuracy in constructive criticism, the historian
and exegete evaluate the text's literal meaning and the statement's true intent. Literal meanings
are a document's initial interpretations, which frequently deceive inexperienced readers. Hockett
asserts that in the latter case, the critic investigates the possibility that the statement's author had
to be aware of the facts, i.e., an eyewitness versus the circumstances in which the witness
observed the event, the witness's relationship to other witness accounts, the position of
observation, etc. This is when determining the text's meaning begins. Additional sources that
should be compared in the same way. It is important for us to rely on the truth and verified
original papers, not to be fooled and to be immature of what happened in the past. His history is
based on press reports, which may be tainted by concerns of association and patronage. In our
generation, we must be willing to acknowledge and accept our own history. We must keep our
eyes wide open so that the past's tragedies and errors do not recur.
