 Date - 1609

name – Telescope
description - an optical instrument designed to make distant objects appear
nearer, containing an arrangement of lenses, or of curved mirrors and lenses,
by which rays of light are collected and focused and the resulting image
magnified.
proponent/advocate or inventor - Galileo Galilei
way(s) on how it transformed the society - The telescope is undoubtedly the
most important investigative tool in astronomy. It provides a means of collecting
and analyzing radiation from celestial objects, even those in the far reaches of
the universe. Telescope also helped us make the first valid measurement of the
speed of light and understand the gravity and other fundamental laws of the
physic world.

 Date - 1816
Name - Camera
Description - A camera is an optical instrument that captures a visual image. At a
basic level, cameras consist of sealed boxes, with a small hole that allows light
through to capture an image on a light-sensitive surface. Cameras have various
mechanisms to control how the light falls onto the light-sensitive surface
Proponent/advocate or inventor- Frenchman Joseph Nicéphore Niépce
way(s) on how it transformed the society - Cameras became a great tool for
scientific research, documented newly discovered species, a tool of document
evidence of scientific field trips, was able to capture the people of remote tribes.
Cameras later then led to the innovation of brain scanning and assessing human
anatomy.

 Date - 7 March 1876

Name – Telephone
Description - A telephone is a telecommunications device that permits two or
more users to conduct a conversation when they are too far apart to be heard
directly.
Proponent/advocate or inventor – Alexander Graham Bell
way(s) on how it transformed the society - allowed people to talk business and
negotiate contracts more quickly and efficiently. Phones made it possible to
conduct business without being in the same room, which reduced both travel
time and costs. It also allowed businesses to expand beyond their local area by
attracting customers from anywhere.
 Date - November 8, 1895
Name – Electromagnetic radiation or X-rays
Description - X-rays are a form of electromagnetic radiation, similar to visible
light. Unlike light, however, x-rays have higher energy and can pass through
most objects, including the body. Medical x-rays are used to generate images of
tissues and structures inside the body.
proponent/advocate or inventor - Wilhelm conrad roentgen
way(s) on how it transformed the society – X-rays helped us in many ways;
1. DNA Structure
2. Lung and heart problems
3. Detect fractures and breaks
4. Dental Treatments
5. Develop into further technologies
6. Airport Security

 Date - 19, November 5, 1898

Name – Wireless Electricity
Description - Wireless power transfer, wireless power transmission, wireless
energy transmission, or electromagnetic power transfer is the transmission of
electrical energy without wires as a physical link
Proponent/Advocate or inventor – Nikola Tesla
way(s) on how it transformed the society - Wireless transmission is useful to
power electrical devices where interconnecting wires are inconvenient,
hazardous, or are not possible. Wireless power transfer technology reduces the
use of electric wire which is made of copper and aluminum metal. The metal
which are used to make electric wire will extinct in future.

 Date – 1928
Name – Penicillin
Description - Penicillins are a group of antibiotics originally obtained from
Penicillium moulds, principally P. chrysogenum and P. rubens. Most penicillins in
clinical use are synthesised by P. chrysogenum using deep tank fermentation
and then purified.
Proponent/Advocate or inventor – Alexander Fleming
way(s) on how it transformed the society - The discovery of penicillin changed
the world of medicine enormously. With its development, infections that were
previously severe and often fatal, like bacterial endocarditis, bacterial meningitis
and pneumococcal pneumonia, could be easily treated

 Date - 1953
Name – DNA Structure
Description - is the molecule that carries genetic information for the development
and functioning of an organism.
Proponent/advocate or inventor - James Watson and Francis Crick
way(s) on how it transformed the society - he discovery of DNA has radically
changed the way we breed and utilise crops and the means by which we
recognise and protect our plant biodiversity and also it is a vital forensic tool
identifying criminals, the remains of a missing person, and determining the
biological parent of a child.

 Date – December 2020

Name - Oxford-AstraZeneca's COVID-19 vaccine
Description - is a viral vector vaccine for prevention of COVID-19
proponent/advocate or inventor - collaboration with Oxford University and is
manufactured by AstraZeneca and COVISHIELD
way(s) on how it transformed the society - With the BIDA steps and observance
of minimum public health standards, vaccination is an important way to protect
yourself from getting severe COVID-19.
