Present Perfect Simple Present perfect Continuous
■ Gives the idea of a completed action, but ■ Talks about an activity that started in the past
we can see or feel the result now. and is unfinished in the future.
■ Example: I have painted the living room ■ Example: I have been painting the room for five
blue. hours.
■ It emphasizes on Result: ■ It emphasizes on Activity or Action:
■ He has repaired his car. ■ He has been repairing his car for the past 2
■ Used with state verbs ( know, love, see, days.
have etc.)
■ Can’t be used with state verbs
■ Note: State verbs don’t show action, they
show possession, senses, emotions)
■ Example: I have known him for ten years.
■ I have loved her since I was 10 years old.
■ I have had this Iphone for twelve months.
