CONVERSATION CONNECTION ACTIVITIES

TOPIC

Food 1. OPENING ACTIVITY Watch the classic Wendys commercial on the Internet site listed in the resource section. 2. VOCABULARY-BUILDING ACTIVITY o Review vocabulary words definitions and pronunciation. o Discuss expressions. o Practice pronouncing reductions.

ACTIVITIES:

CONVERSATION STARTERS Small group discussion o Choose a facilitator for each group to throw out questions to promote discussion (see below), or post each group of questions by topic on an overhead or smart classroom computer. Allow sufficient time for small groups to view and discuss questions. o Encourage students to generate their own follow-up questions. o Rotate the topics so that all groups have an opportunity to discuss them. 4. CLOSING ACTIVITY Directions: Choose one of the following options. o o o Whole group: Play Food Bingo (see resources). Small groups: Play bingo games by levels (advanced and beginners), and select a student bingo caller for each group. Fill-in-the-blank Activity: See Vocabulary Activity section.
