Yakov Eliashberg Work
Yakov is a founder of topology, which a mathematical language for
problems having a connection with physics. He is very famous for his
series of papers on sympletic topology from 1989 to 1992. Eliashberg
introduced a fundamental dichotomoy know as tight vs overtwisted that
created the basis of topology. Another famous series of papers made
by Yakov is the 3 sphere in 1992 which is used by many
mathematicians and scientists in their fields. In a 2000 paper Yakov with
Givental and Hofer pioneered foundation the sympletic field theory.
Which is an algebraic structure behind holomorphic curves. It is also
used a lot in simpletic and contact topology.
