(Past Perfect)
I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
Define the meaning and the format on how to form the past perfect tenses.
Use the past tense to express past events with specified

B. Recall
The teacher will recall the past tense, how it is formed and
its example sentences will be given by the students.
C. Lesson Proper
Generalization
Some examples of the past perfect tense can be seen in the following
sentences:
She had met him before the party.
The plane had left by the time I got to the airport.
I had written the email before he apologized.
Kate had wanted to see the movie, but she did not have money for the
ticket.
Yes/No Question
To create a question that will be answered with a yes or no, start the
question with had (Hadn’t for a negative question) then add a
subject (the person or thing that had done the action) followed by the
Past Participle form of the verb and only then add the rest of the
sentence.
Example:
Re-statement of generalization
The teacher asks a volunteer to summarize the lesson.
IV. Application
The teacher will give an activity that is called “Pass the
sentence”.
The instruction of the game will be then explain by the teacher.
V. Evaluation
ACTIVITY #1. Choose the correct verb from the list below to complete the
following sentences. Put the verb in the past perfect tense (had & past
participle).

ACTIVITY #2 A. Put in the verbs in brackets into the gaps and form
sentences in Past Perfect. Use contracted forms only when there are
personal pronouns.
Example: Before Steven did his homework he at the library. (to study)
Before Steven did his homework he had studied at the library.
