C Practical Research 2 Week 3

This document outlines the research methodology for a study examining the impact of technology on STEM students' academic performance. It will use a quantitative experimental research design with a sample of 30 students from various STEM classes selected through stratified random sampling. Data will be collected through a questionnaire and analyzed using regression analysis to determine if technology usage affects academic performance. The instruments will be validated for content and tested for reliability before data collection and analysis are conducted.

WHAT'S MORE
Activity 3. Choose the Appropriate Statistical Test
1. Relationship between Academic Stressors and Learning Preferences
of Senior High School Students

Statistical Test/s: Pearson correlation (r)

Explanation:
The researcher aims to see how strong the relationship is between
academic stressors and students' learning preferences in Senior High
School. It is also self-evident that the goal of the study is to examine
the relationship between two variables, which may be accomplished
using Pearson correlation (r).

2. Reading Electronic Learning Materials as a Support for Vocabulary

of Grade 1 Pupils

Statistical Test/s: Regression

Explanation:
The goal of this study is to see how effective electronic learning
materials are in improving the vocabulary of Grade 1 students. We
can determine whether the dependent variable (electronic learning
resources) has an effect on the independent variable (vocabulary of
Grade 1 students) using regression analysis.

3. Impact of the Implementation of COVID – 19 Health Protocols in

Supermarkets on Consumer Behaviors

Statistical Test/s: Regression

Explanation:
Using regression analysis, we can see if the dependent variable
(implementation of COVID – 19 health protocols) has an effect on the
independent variable (consumer behaviors). The purpose of this study,
as observed in the present title, is to determine the impact of
implementing COVID – 19 health protocols in supermarkets on
consumer behavior.

4. Effects of Morning Exercise on the Health Anxiety Level of Senior

Citizens

Statistical Test/s: Regression

Explanation:
The goal of this study, as proposed in the title, is to assess the
impact of morning exercise on senior citizens' health anxiety levels.
We can use regression analysis to evaluate if the dependent variable,
morning exercise, has an effect on the independent variable, senior
citizens' health anxiety levels. In addition, regression tests look for
cause-and-effect relationships which is visible from the given title.

5. Measuring the Gadgets Usage of Children at Home during

Quarantine

Statistical Test/s: One Sample T-Test

Explanation:
Since the research title only mentioned one variable, a one-
sample t-test was used. The one-sample t-test will be used to see if
the mean determined from the sample data, which is children's
gadget usage, differs from a designated value supplied by the
researcher, or what we refer to as the hypothetical value.

Week 3 / Module 4 / Lesson 7
Mr. Menandro Merlin

Research Methodology
This chapter will discuss and describe how the researcher will gather their
data to be used in their study. It will describe who will be the respondents and
focus of the research. This will also show the steps of data collection and
instruments to be used; these chapter also discuss the type of research, and
research method to be used.

Research Design
This study is a quantitative research because the researcher will garner
quantitative information. The study will use an experimental method that will
accentuate quantitative analysis and data through questionnaire for an
enthusiastic data. The researcher will no longer conduct an interviews with
their respondents, for the research material which is the questionnaire will
provide adequate questions for the problem to be solved. By conducting an
experimental study, the researcher expects to know more about the impact of
technology on the academic performance of STEM students at Marinduque
National High School. The impact will be assess by providing an appropriate
statistical treatment.

Research Population and Sample

The current study will comprise a sample of 30 students from the specified
population, who are all Marinduque National High School STEM students in
Grade 11 and 12. Stratified random sampling will be used to select the
respondents.
Sampling Procedure
The sample will be determined using stratified random sampling. Among the
STEM students of grade 11 and 12 will be chosen to be the sample. The
researchers will gather their respondents by the use of this sampling technique
together with its appropriate computation.
Sample Size per
Grade & Section
6 Grade 11 STEM 1 -

6 Grade 11 STEM 2 -
59/291 = 0.20 x 30 =

54/291 = 0.19 x 30 =
Nebres students
4 Grade 12 STEM 1 -
42/291 = 0.14 x 30 =
Heisenberg students
4 Grade 12 STEM 2 -
43/291 = 0.15 x 30 =
Euclid students
4 Grade 12 STEM 3 -
39/291 = 0.13 x 30 =
Eiffel students

100% = 30 STEM students

Table 1. Computation for Determining Sample Size

Furthermore, stratified random sampling will be used because the
researcher should have an equal proportion of students to be chosen in each
grade level and section.

Research Instruments
The researcher will utilize a questionnaire that will be distributed to the
respondents to know how technology affects their academic performance. The
first part of the questionnaire aims to know the background information of the
respondents such as name, grade and section, age, etc. The second portion is a
rating scale, specifically a likert scale, which is separated into two parts with
four and 12 statements, respectively, to determine the respondents'
technological access and use. The last section of the instrument is a rating
scale with seven statements that will be used in the research to determine how
respondents feel about using technology in education.

Validity and Reliability of Instruments

The instrument will be validated by the research instructor through Content
Validity. The instructor will judge the instrument by checking the statements or
questions if it elicits the needed information. On the other hand, the research
instrument will establish its reliability by using the Test-Retest Reliability. The
questionnaire will be given twice to the same group of respondents. The
consistency of the results will be checked.

Data Collection Procedure

Respondents will be chosen using stratified random sampling based on
their grade and section. A research instrument will also be selected in able for
the researcher to gather data. The researcher will then construct and distribute
a questionnaire to the selected respondents. Participants will be informed that
the purpose of this study is to determine how technology influences their
academic performance. The respondents will be ensured of their anonymity,
and they will be encouraged to respond as honestly as possible after knowing
that there are no right or incorrect responses to any of the questions. The
researcher will tally the findings and interpret the data collected after sending
out the questionnaire. This data will provide a sufficient basis to understand
the effects of technology on STEM students' academic performance.

Data Analysis
Inferential statistics will be used to assess the collected data since the
research study focuses on testing hypothesis, and finding interpretations,
generalizations, and conclusions. Under the inferential statistics, regression
generalizations, and conclusions. Under the inferential statistics, regression
analysis will take an action to evaluate if the dependent variable, technologies,
has an effect on the independent variable, STEM students' academic
performance.
