The pre-referral process in inclusive schools involves initially identifying students who need additional support through universal screening. It then determines appropriate academic and behavioral strategies through evaluation and observations of the student's developmental issues and difficulties. Strategies may then be implemented and monitored, with evaluation and decision making. Pre-referral strategies can include observing a student's interactions and reviewing records. Assessments to identify students with disabilities' strengths, needs, and placement include interviews, observations, checklists, rating scales, and tests. 1. What are the different processes as well as strategies used in the pre-referral system
in an inclusive school?

Answer: Pre-referral process provides adjustments and allowances for kids

who struggle in class according on their needs and limitations and develops solutions
to assist the student in their schooling.A universal screening process is used to
identify pupils who need more help. The pre-referral procedure starts with the
evaluation of the kid with the indicated developmental issues and difficulties using
observations, norms, and criteria-referenced tests, after which they will receive the
appropriate academic behavioral help to address the identified issues. The pre-referral
process covers initial identification, deciding on teaching methodologies and areas,
putting teaching programs into action, and assessing teaching programs. This process
involves identifying the primary concern, which includes identifying students who
have additional needs and who may be at risk for developmental strategies;
information gathering such as teacher and parent observation, information sharing,
and team discussion; discussion of potential strategies; implementation and
monitoring of strategies; as well as evaluation and decision-making.Pre-referral
strategies include, for instance, keeping an eye on a child's interactions with peers,
parents, and teachers; interviewing them; reviewing the child's school records; and
analyzing the child's academic output through error analysis, portfolio assessment,
criterion-referenced assessment, and curriculum analysis-based assessment.

2. What are the different assessment methods and tools used to identify the strengths,
abilities, needs and placement of children with disabilities?
Answer:
 Interviews
 Observations
 Checklist
 Rating Scales
 Tests

3. How are accommodations different form modifications?

Answer: Accommodations are supports provided to students to assist

them in fully accessing classroom material and instruction without changing the
curriculum's expectations for standards and competencies, as well as accurately
demonstrating their knowledge. Accommodations are meant to lessen or even
eliminate the effects of a student's disability. However, they do not lower the
learning expectations; rather, they make it possible for the students to follow
along with what the desired learning outcomes are.For students with significant or
severe disabilities, accommodations may include providing visual supports like
visual cues, printed materials, videos, and other materials, while modifications
may include changing the performance expectations in relation to those for
typically developing students of the same age and altering the content
expectations. If a learning target is impossible to fulfill due to a disability,
modifying instruction and/or assessment results in an alteration, lowering, or
reduction of learning/assessment expectations. For instance, a student might be
given homework that differs from the rest of the class or shorter, simpler reading
assignments. In brief, differentiation focuses on how a child will show learning,
whereas accommodations are focused on how teaching is provided and
modifications are focused on what a child will learn.

4. Why should parents of children with disabilities be involved in the process of

planning and decision making?
Answer:Since parents are the primary caregivers and have a direct impact on
their children, it has long been recognized that parent involvement in the education,
planning, and management of children with disabilities and additional needs is
crucial. Parents are the best qualified individuals to make decisions regarding their
children because they are the first to notice differences in their development compared
to other children. Parents themselves have a significant role in the development of a
kid with a handicap since support for children with special needs does not stop in the
classroom but also extends to the child's home.Additionally, caring for and teaching a
kid with special needs can be challenging, but when parents and teachers collaborate,
they can foster an atmosphere that is supportive of the child's mental and emotional
development. It is crucial that schools have a strong support system for both the
students and their families.
