User Manual 1200e Upgrade v1.1 | Edited 01-31-2018 42

You’ve already setup messages and anything okay. Now you begin to start print with message mark
from: 001 to 999.

But one hour later, your production line have trouble (electrical shutdown, stop for repair, changing
product, changing template, end of shift working, end of days working…). Printer stop print at Page
500.

001 002 003 … 500 BREAK EVENT

Next you need to reload the template again and continue print to the box / paper / packages with number
from 501.

Right now Start page will help you. Just input the value to Start page text box is 501. The printer will
begin to print again at 501.

501 502 503 … 999 STOP PRINT

Finally both of this value will control the Index of counter inside messages.

So, right now you can control the software start print at any messages and stop at any message with
Start page and End page value.

X1 presents stitch X1, you can see at +0, the line not straight means you need to stitch X1 to get +0
line straight. You can see +3 the line is straight, it a clue, so you will set stitch X1 with syntax =
current stitch X1 +3. Try to print again and see the result.

The same with X2 and X3.

Sensor mode

Gap before
This value is distance from position of sensor to begin of printing messages.

For box application

User Manual 1200e Upgrade v1.1 | Edited 01-31-2018 67

For web application

Delay sensor
Delay sensor is a distance between two sensor marks or it’s a product length.

The purpose of this setting is prevent multiple print on one product and make sure at all time only one
print on one product only (except in case the user adjust Repeat Time of sensor mode to other value.
See next items for Repeat Times of sensor mode).

So in this distance, the printer will accept first sensor signal only and it will ignore any signals after that.
This happened when your product have multiple colors and it make sensor continuous recognize.

Take a look at below picture to get more understanding about this delay.

For web application

For box application

User Manual 1200e Upgrade v1.1 | Edited 01-31-2018 69

Repeat times
Repeat times is number of printing times that you need to print for each sensor signal.

Default value of Repeat times is 0, maximum value is 255 times. That’s mean NO repeat printing
required and printer will print normally. One times for one sensor signal.

Fix length
Fix length is distance between two repeat printing. Fix length is used once Repeat Times value is
different 0.

Continuous mode
Continuous mode one of printing mode that allow the printer printing out without using the sensor. This
mode is useful in web / pipe / roll application (without sensor mark).

This mode also use to check the working status of printers. In some case you are doubt about printing
ability of printer. Combine use this checking with disable the encoder. Once you have been disabled
the Encoder and printing under Continuous mode, printer still not able to print. That mean it have trouble
with hardware or connect. Contact now with your supplier.

Fix length
Fix length in Continuous mode also the same meaning with Fix length in Sensor mode. That is distance
between two repeat printings.

Minimum value of fixed length we can input:

- With One Cartridge Head (1201e): Template length

- With Two Cartridge Head (1202e): Template length + 30mm (the physical size of two cartridge
head)
- With Four Cartridge Head (1204e): Template length + 70mm (the physical size of four cartridge
head)

Immediate: print continue without sensor signal.

Level: print continue with sensor signal.

- Level 1: print data at beginning template when sensor ON.

- Level 2: print data when sensor ON.

Bi-Directional
Bi-directional printing, sometimes referred to as "boustrophedon printing," involves printing a line from
left-to-right, and then from right-to-left rather than returning to the left to start the next line.

NOTE:

1. Recommend set up print head to position receive sensor trigger (Distance to head = 0)
2. So we just need to set up Gap before for direction left to right and Adjust position for direction
right to left.
3. If you cannot set up print head to position receive sensor trigger, you will need to add distance
to print head to both direction left to right and right to left.

User Manual 1200e Upgrade v1.1 | Edited 01-31-2018 70

Adjust position
Set gap before for second trigger sensor when use Bi-Directional to adjust a line from left to right and
right to left fit with X axis.

Box/Lot Counter
Is a dual counter. This is used to count the box and the products in the box.
To enable Box/Lot Counter, please click on Counter button to change to Box/Lot. In this mode, we
will have two counter. And they are combine as below:

Counter1 / Counter2

Once Counter1 run full value (Start value to End value), the Counter2 will increased one step.

So normally people use this function to control the product inside the box and box number.

Example: each box have 20 products. And customer need to know this product belong to which one
of box. So they need to print: Product number / Box number. In this case, we use:

Product number = Counter1 (Start = 1 / End = 20 / Step = 1)

Box number = Counter2 (Start = 1 / End = 1000 / Step = 1). For example you have 1000 boxes.

Name Description
If the size mode is set to “Custom – Specify module width”, this
input box lets you specify the size of one module (in 1/1000 mm).

NOTE: A module is the smallest element of a barcode. The

widths of all bars and spaces are multiples of one module width.

Sometimes the “Module Width” is also called “Narrow Bar Width”.

A constant module width is recommended if you have a varying

Module Width amount of input data and if the optical data density should remain
constant. Furthermore, some label specifications require a
constant module width.

NOTE: When specifying a custom module width the barcode may

grow bigger than the bounding rectangle for big module widths or
for a large amount of input data. Please make sure that the
bounding rectangle is wide enough to display the whole barcode
symbol.

Sets the bar width reduction in percent.

The bar width reduction can be specified in percent of the module

width. Thus when set to 20 all bars will be narrowed by 20 percent
of the module width.
Bar Width Reduction
NOTE: Setting the bar width reduction to more than 50 percent
might leave the bar code unreadable! When using this feature we
recommend you to do some test-scans to make sure that the bar
code can be scan correctly. A common value to start with is 15%.

User Manual 1200e Upgrade v1.1 | Edited 01-31-2018 87

The quiet zone is an empty area outside the barcode. It helps the
scanner to read the barcode correctly.

Possible units are: Modules, Millimeters, Mils and Pixels. Default:

No quiet zone is added.
For most 1D barcodes a quiet zone should be maintained directly
before and after the barcode symbol. As a rule of thumb, the quiet
Quiet Zone Unit zone should be ten times the dimension of the module width
or at least 1/4 inch (6.5 mm). The exact value depends on the
selected barcode type.

NOTE: A few barcode types provide the required quiet zone

automatically. These barcodes are: EAN-8, EAN-13, UPC-A,
UPC-E and ISBN. Changing the quiet zone for these
symbologies will add an additional white space.
Creates the smallest possible barcode. Furthermore the module
width of the barcode will be optimized for ensuring best
Readability.

NOTE: The size mode “Minimal” influence the horizontal(!) size

Optimize
of a barcode only! The barcode height is always given by the
height of its bounding rectangle. Only a few 2D barcodes, like
Data Matrix, QR-Code or Composite symbologies require a
fixed width to height ratio. For these barcodes the height will be
calculated accordingly.
Draws the biggest possible barcode which fits into the bounding
Must fit rectangle. Resizing the bounding rectangle directly resizes the
barcode.
Selects whether escape sequences (like \n) are translated or not
Escape sequence (default: no).

Sets the 2D composite component in order to generate an GS1

Composite Symbology.

NOTE: You can add Composite Components to the following

Composite component
symbologies: EAN-8, EAN-13, UPC-E,UPC-A, GS1 DataBar
family and EAN-128. – CC-C is available for GS1/UCC/EAN-128
only

If the composite component is enabled, the data for the 2D

composite component has to be separated from the linear
component with a vertical bar “|”.

Composite data Example: 1234567890123|CompositeData

If a symbology has a fixed data length (such as GS1 DataBar)

the vertical bar is optional. All remaining characters (after the 14th
digit) will be encoded into the 2D component automatically.

User Manual 1200e Upgrade v1.1 | Edited 01-31-2018 88

For the GS1 DataBar Expanded Stacked symbology you can
adjust the number of data segments per row. Allowed are even
Rss segment values between 2 and 22. This parameter influences the width to
height ratio of the barcode symbol.

Linear Settings
Common Linear barcode properties.

Name Description
The text options allow the adjustment of the human readable text.
The human readable text is usually printed below the barcode
symbol and shows the content of the barcode.
Display barcode data
NOTE: Not all barcode specifications support the printing of human
readable text. If human readable text is not supported, the following
setting will be ignored.

Changes the alignment of the human readable text.

Default: Uses the default text alignment (= “Center”).

Text Alignment Left: Aligns the human readable text to the left.

Right: Aligns the human readable text to the right.

Center: Centers the human readable text.

Text Margin The margin of human readable text.

Sets the additional length of the synchronization bars (notches).
Notch height

User Manual 1200e Upgrade v1.1 | Edited 01-31-2018 89

NOTE: The notch height does not affect the barcode size
calculation. So it is recommended that you don't let the notches
exceed the barcode size. Though negative notch heights are
allowed, it is recommended to use positive values only.
Usually, bearer bars are used with the ITF-14 (or sometimes with
the Interleaved 2 of 5) or the DPD symbology only. The bearer bars
were introduced to equalize the pressure exerted by the printing
plate over the entire surface of soft materials. They also enhance
the reading reliability by helping to reduce the probability of
misreads by skewed scanning beams.
For some types (like UPC and EAN) the bearer bars must be set to
“None”.
Bearer bars
None: Do not print bearer bars.
Top and Bottom: Print bearer bars at the top and the bottom of the
symbol.
Rectangle: Print bearer bars on all 4 sides of the symbol. For
rectangular bearer bars, the quiet zone must be at least 12
times the module width. Otherwise no bearer bars will be printed.
Top: Print bearer bars at the top of the symbol.
Bottom: Print bearer bars at the bottom of the symbol.
Sets the width of the bearer bars in 1/1000 mm.
The minimum width of the bearer bars is two times the module
width (which is also used as default value). If any smaller value is
Bearer bar width entered, the minimum width will be used instead.

NOTE: If the bearer bar width is set to zero, no bearer bars are
printed.

APPENDIX

INK CARTRIDGE MAINTENANCE

Print head cleaning

If the print quality is degraded, check the ink level on the cartridge:
 If the cartridge is out of ink, change the cartridge.
 If the cartridge isn’t out of ink, the degraded print quality may be caused by ink spray, dust, or paper
fiber building up on the surface of the nozzles’ plate. To maintain the print quality of the cartridge,
follow the wiping and purging tips below.

Wiping
[1]: Materials needed: a lint-free soft cloth and de-ionized water.

User Manual 1200e Upgrade v1.1 | Edited 01-31-2018 98

[2]: Moisten the cloth with de-ionized water. Tap water also works but de-ionized water is recommended
since tap water contains impurities that can damage the print head.
[3]: Wipe slowly across the long-axis with the cartridge facing down as shown.
[4]: There are two lines of ink on the moistened cloth after wiping.

Important notes
 To avoid scratching the orifice plate, do not apply excessive force or use a dry or abrasive cloth.
 To avoid clogging the nozzles, make certain that the lint-free cloth and de-ionized water used do
not have a high percentage of suspended particles.
 Do not shake the cartridge as ink pressure will damage the nozzles.

Purging
[1]: If the cartridge sits inactive and uncapped for a period of time, the ink may dry and form a viscous
plug at the nozzles. The dried ink plug can cause misdirected drops and eventually block the nozzles.

User Manual 1200e Upgrade v1.1 | Edited 01-31-2018 99

White streaks may be visible in the printed text or graphic. To fix this problem, purge the ink plug out of
the nozzles. Printing alone may be inefficient in removing ink plugs from the nozzles.

[2]: Wipe the cartridge with a moist, lint-free cloth to remove the excess ink on the surface of the nozzle
plate.

[3]: Print a few lines of text or graphics at high resolution to utilize more nozzles and push more ink out.

[4]: Finally, check the printed image. If the print quality cannot be recovered, repeat this procedure
several times. If it still doesn’t work, change the printer cartridge.

The cartridge before [1] and after [2] cleaning:

INK CARTRIDGE STORAGE PROCEDURE

For short term storing (less than one day)

 Leave the cartridge in the machine, capped. Capping the cartridge is always recommended to
prevent the nozzles from drying out or becoming clogged due to ink solvent’s evaporation or dust.

 Wipe and/ or purge the cartridge next time it is used until good print quality is achieved.

For long term storing (more than one day)

 Remove the cartridge from the machine.
 Remember that all inkjet print cartridges produce a small amount of ink residue that may build up
on the cartridge nozzles during printing. We need to wipe the cartridge to remove these ink residues
from the nozzles’ plate.
 Tightly cap the cartridge by sealing tape.
 Leave the cartridge uncapped and place it in an airtight container with moist, lint-free cloth or sponge
to prevent the cartridge’s nozzles from drying out or becoming clogged. Close the container tightly.
 Wipe and/ or purge the cartridge next time it is used until good print quality is achieved.

System disposal
 Keep the print head connected to the ink reservoir when disposing of system.

User Manual 1200e Upgrade v1.1 | Edited 01-31-2018 100

 Place the entire system in a plastic bag to avoid ink leakage.

Important handling cautions

 The cartridge has to be stored in a nozzle-up position.
 Never squeeze the ink reservoir as this will push ink out of the print head.
 To avoid getting air in the print head, never shake, drop or hit the print head.
 To avoid getting air in the print head, never hold the print head more than 10 inches above the ink
reservoir when removing the system for storage.
 To avoid ink leakage, never hold the print head below the reservoir.
