MMW Midterm Problem Set 1st Sem 21-22

This document provides sample problems and instructions for a math midterm exam covering measures of central tendency and dispersion, hypothesis testing using t-tests and ANOVA, and calculating Pearson's correlation coefficient. Students are asked to analyze ungrouped and grouped data and complete tables to calculate values like mean, median, mode, quartiles, standard deviation, and more. They are also asked to show the steps for hypothesis tests on detergent efficiency, job performance by civil status, and the correlation between statistics and research grades.

Part 2: (T- test, ANOVA, and Pearson r Correlation Cefficient)

Solve the following completely by writing the 5 steps in hypothesis testing: (35 pts)

1. The level of efficiency of Joy dishwashing liquid detergent is compared with the level of efficiency of
Axion dishwashing liquid detergent. To test which of the two detergents is more efficient it was used by
two groups of consumers. Joy was used by 15 consumers and the average level of efficiency is 80 with
a standard deviation of 10, while Axion was used by 12 consumers and the average level of efficiency
is 90 with a standard deviation of 5. Test the null hypothesis using 0.01 level of significance.
(Hint: The critical value of t = 2.787 and follow closely the Illustrative Example in the Statistics with
Probability book of Sumera-Icutan, et al. Pages 132-133.)
