Conceived as a backstage murder mystery, Curtains evolved intentionally

and unintentionally into nothing less than a love letter to Musical Theatre,
and was a show we just had to produce. Talent attracts talent and with
Director Choreographer Helena Harvey, her partner Cameron McHugh as
Co-Director, and Phillip Malcolm as Musical Director, we have on stage a
truly stellar cast (none of whom have exhibited homicidal tendencies).

CREATIVE TEAM
HELENA HARVEY
Director Choreographer
Helena is a graduate of the National Academy
of Singing and Dramatic Art (NASDA). While
at NASDA, she was dance captain of ‘42nd
Street’ and choreographed ‘Earthquakes
in London’ and multiple musical theatre
ensemble numbers while also training at JKPA.
Her other choreography credits include ‘Coca Cola Christmas in the Park’,
‘COCA Festival’ ‘Christchurch Winter Festival’ & most recently ‘All Together
Now’ for 4th Wall Theatre. She has trained at ‘Millennium’, ‘The Edge’,
‘Disney Performing Arts’ and ‘International Dance Academy Hollywood’
(Los Angeles) as well as ‘Broadway Dance Centre’ and ‘Steps on Broadway’
(New York). Most recently Helena moved back home to New Plymouth and
opened her own performing arts school ‘THESPA: The Space of Performing
Arts’. Helena is thrilled to be making her directorial debut on such a fun
show and with an extremely supportive team behind her. Helena would
like to give a special shout out to her mum for looking after her son Roman
throughout this process and always being her biggest cheerleader.

CAMERON McHUGH Co-Director

After graduating NASDA in 2019 where he
met Helena, the two of them started their
careers around Aotearoa. Now three years
later, Cameron can proudly say he’s achieved
two of his biggest life goals: starting his
own performing arts school THESPA here in
Taranaki, and being a father to his wonderful son
Roman. Cameron is a passionate educator and musician, currently
teaching in primary schools as well private singing lessons at his studio
CAMERON MCHUGH MUSIC. He also is the creator of MOOVIN’ AND
GROOVIN’, a preschool performing program with all original music.
Professional credits include: Andrej, ONCE (The Court Theatre); Musical
Director, OR SO THEY SAY (Blackboard Theatre Collective).

PHILLIP MALCOLM Musical Director

After two sold-out seasons of Avenue Q and
MTI’s All Together Now at 4th Wall Theatre,
Phillip is excited to be back at the podium
for his third show with us. Phillip has been
a Musical Director, and Assistant MD in NPOS
productions of Godspell, Cats, The Sound of
Music, Miss Saigon, The Producers, Hairspray,
Phantom of the Opera, Mamma Mia, Sister Act, Priscilla Queen of the
Desert, and Hospice Taranaki productions of Grease and The Wedding
Singer. By day, he runs his local IT businesses MacTorque and iRepair, and
is also studying towards a Bachelor of Aviation Management.

Having recently arrived in NZ with Hannah, 18, has lived in Taranaki
