What is Probability of Simple COT Indicator: 1,2,3,4

Event and what is its Refer to Attached PPT
formula?
Students will know the meaning of Probability of simple event and its
corresponding formula.
COT Indicator: 1,2,3,4
Refer to Attached PPT
How can the Probability of
simple events be used? Students will know how to solve problems involving probability of
events.
COT Indicator: 6, 7, 8, 9
Differentiated Instruction
The teacher will use differentiated instructions strategy via group activity and presentation that
require students to work collaboratively and practice the new lesson in solving problems. The activities
will include manipulative activities to appeal to the diversity of interests and across curriculum areas
topics. Some activities will also have extension questions to challenge those students who have
advanced knowledge of the content.
COT Indicator: 6, 7, 8, 9
Materials/Preparation
What materials will you use (To address learners needs, differences and socio-economic status)
-Ball pen or pencil
- Intermediate Sheet of paper, Gadget
- Laptop and Printer
What materials will you use (To address use of internet for learners in accessing the SLMs)
- Internet Connection in making the various activities
- Provide PPT via google classroom and convert it to pictures and post on class group chat.
- Provide video via this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0eImOW1HJdg

How will you arrange the chairs/students?
Due to minimal space of the classroom the chairs will be arranged as it is but the students will be
arranged in groups but if it is possible the students will arrange themselves in ways they can interact
with their group mates.
COT Indicator: 6, 7, 8, 9
Warm-up Exercise: 10 minutes
How will you get the students’ attention?
I will employ an activity to get the students’ attention. Students will get involved in an ACTIVITY
– wherein student’s knowledge in various fields will be tested. Students should be able to answer
correctly to earn points as part of their group activity.
COT Indicator: 6, 7, 8, 9
How will you connect this lesson with their previous knowledge and/or the real world?
This lesson will be connected to student’s previous knowledge and real world applications through
the NAME GAME ACTIVITY. For example, pictures will be posed through powerpoint presentation
wherein the students will identify and name it and share something about it.
COT Indicator: 6, 7, 8, 9
Body: 30 minutes
How will you present the new content?
I will use activities to present the concept of Probability of Event and its corresponding formula.
The concept of probability was introduced at the previous grade level, so through this lesson students
will receive ample practice using the probability of simple events during the different activities. Each
student in each group will solve problems and present it to the class.
COT Indicator: 6, 7, 8, 9
What examples will you use?
Students will review some of the sample space concepts and compute the given problems on
probability of simple events from the following websites:
http://jmathpage.com/middleschoolmath/jmsmpythagoras.html
http://www.math-play.com/Pythagorean-Theorem-Jeopardy/Pythagorean-Theorem-Jeopardy.html

Transitioning to the Abstract
What potential questions or problems do you anticipate?
I anticipate students having difficulty in terms of remembering the concept of sample space and
the importance on the concept of probability of simple events in real life applications. I anticipate
students having questions about which numbers to plug into which part of the formula for the
probability of simple events. I anticipate students having difficulty rounding numbers to different
specified place values. I anticipate students having difficulty articulating the presentation of their
outputs.
COT Indicator: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7, 8, 9
What teaching points do you want to remember to emphasize?
I want to remember to emphasize the fact that Probability and Mathematics as a whole applies to
real life situations and that it also connects to various areas. I want students to have a deeper depth of
understanding of the probability of simple event and not just memorization of the formula. I also want to
remember to emphasize the fact that the concepts of mathematics specially probability has importance
in the real world.
COT Indicator: 1,2,3,4,5
Close: 10 minutes
How will you summarize and pull together the content taught?
I will remind students that the probability of simple events is not simply a formula to memorize. It
is a method that involves using the information you have to solve for the unknown. The concept of
lottery for instance is an example of what chances will the student or person get if he/she joins a certain
schedule draw.
COT Indicator: 1,2,3,4,5
How will you lead into the next lesson?
I will tell my students that while we have been using the probability of simple events to find the
answers in a given problem or situation. We will learn more about this the upcoming days.
COT Indicator: 1,2,3,4,5
Assessment: 5 minutes
How will you evaluate this understanding of learned material?
I will evaluate the understanding of the learned material by asking students open-ended and
directed questions throughout class. Moreover, their group presentations and activities will also serve as
barometer as to the level of learning they have about the lesson presented.
COT Indicator: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7, 8, 9
Technology Connection/Integration (if applicable)
How will technology be integrated into the instructional plan?
The Laptop will be used as part of the lesson activity. Students will able to see presentations on
various activities and samples about the sample space and probability of events.
COT Indicator: 6, 7, 8, 9
What does the technology add to the lesson?
Technology offers students an interesting and different medium to learn things involving the
Probability of Simple Event. The websites also provide more real world applications for the topic being
tackled. The technology provides additional opportunities to practice using the formula, which is
presented in slightly different ways to help students to recognize it in different contexts.
