Week 1 Lesson 1-2

The document provides instruction on reading music notation in both the treble and bass clefs. It discusses key elements like: 1) The treble clef indicates which note (A, B, C, etc.) is on each line and space of the staff. The bass clef, also called the F-clef, does the same for lower notes around middle C. 2) Exercises are included to practice identifying note names and playing notes in both clefs on the piano. 3) Ledger lines are explained as they extend the staff to notate exceptionally high or low notes. 4) The concept of octaves is introduced, where the same note name is used for

Treble Clef

The treble clef is the first symbol that

appears at the beginning of every music
staff, usually in upper staff, is a treble
clef symbol. It is very important because
it tells you which note (A, B, C, D, E, F,
or G) is found on each line or space.

Scale
In a scale, from the Middle C up to its 8th note (which also C in different
frequency) is called an octave, a span of eight notes as measured on the
white notes of a piano keyboard; therefore, within a range of piano keys,
there are a lots of the same letter names but different in pitch whether it is
an octave lower or higher.

In this sense, a number of piano composers, as well as arrangers used this

kind of musical style for certain change in mood and expression, contrast in
the different elements of music, and creating another sense of musicality
towards compositions.

Direction: Play the sequence following the fingering labeled in each note below.

Instruction:
a. Play first the pattern in a slow tempo with accuracy;
b. Then repeat the entire passage a little bit faster; and
c. Be precise in playing with the notes.
