Robot Dog

The document outlines an implementation plan for a student project to design and develop a robot dog. It divides students into hardware, design, and software teams, and defines team roles and responsibilities. The hardware team will work on physical structure and electronics integration. The design team will create CAD models and simulations. The software team will program controllers and sensors. An implementation schedule with milestones is provided, along with documentation requirements and performance evaluation criteria.

IMPLEMENTATION PLAN
Purpose
Design and Development of Robot Dog. Purpose of this project is to understand different sensors and
integration of various system while working together as a team. This document will provide baseline on
how to get started with the development of the robot.

Project Organization
Class has been assigned and distributed in various Teams according to following categories:
1. Hardware -------- a. Physical Hardware, b. Electronics
2. Design
3. Software

Below are the details explaining role of each and every team with respective leaders
a. Lead and Sub lead roles:
1. Leader –
a. Leading the Team
b. To make cumulative decision with sub-leader on team’s suggestions, while making final
report into a word document for acceptance from STEMROBO Mentor.
c. Finalize and decide Task for respective Team
d. Solving problems

2. Sub-Leader –
a. Communicating and Task Distribution for respective Team
b. Updates on given Tasks to respective teams
c. Solving problems

Team Roles are as follows:

b. Hardware: Hardware team is responsible for overall lookout of the entire structure and assembly of
the robot it has two sub teams a. Physical Hardware, b. Electronics. Entire Hardware Team will have
same leader and sub leader as appointed
1. Physical Hardware – This team will be responsible to do all the assembly of the bot and
deciding screws and working on attaining skills like using hammers, and other heavy tools.

2. Electronics - This team will be responsible for selection of the Electronic hardware, Sensors,
making new PCB (Printed Circuit Board) on software as well as hardware for better ease of
using sensor and also for deciding wiring route for best looking internally.

c. Design:
1. Designing entire project on the Fusion 360 Software
2. Rectifying possible errors and breakage points in design

d. Software:
1. Using C++/Python to make software that will run the bot
2. Make use of GitHub to store your code on online repository
3. Major Tasks

Design –
1. Completion of Rough Design with exact dimension is important at initial point as it will be base for
all the team to work on their respective tasks.
2. After Finalization of the Design, Design team will do final check and start software-based simulation
to test breaking points and faults in the design
3. Once above steps are done, design will be moved to Physical Hardware Team where they will start
printing the bot on 3D printer under Guidance of STEMROBO Mentor.

Hardware (Electronics) –
1. Team has to decide and give reason for selecting processor board and sensors that will be used for
the bot
2. Team has to select between Raspberry pi and Arduino for processor board
3. Deciding on different gauges of wire

Software –
1. Coding the processor boards to control motors
2. Taking data from sensors to make sense while performing any activity
3. Cover up basics in C++ and Python language (for Arduino and Raspberry pi)

4. Implementation Schedule
Schedule for the project is shared in separate Excel sheet with dates to be followed

5. Documentation
All the process and planning should be documented and shared with STEMROBO Mentor with progress of
the project by Team leader and Sub leader

6. Performance Monitoring
After successful completion of the project, it will be graded and ranked according various factors as
follows:
1. Team Work, 2. Research, 3. Problem Solving, 4. Dedication, 5. Presentation (Looks of the robot and
PowerPoint Presentation), 6. Discipline, 7. Punctuality, and 8. Viva
7. Dimension of the Robot

Robot should fit in the box given below with dimensions as 2m x 2m x 2.5m (meter) / 2000mm x 2000mm x
2500mm (millimeter). Dimension should not exceed more given dimension.
