Learning Task No. 1

Rizal Law

DIRECTIONS: Answer the following questions:

1. What is RA 1425?

❑ The Rizal Law, Republic Act No. 1425, requires all educational institutions in the

Philippines to offer courses about Jose Rizal.

❑ “An Act to Include in the Curricula of All Public and Private Schools, Colleges and

Universities Courses on the Life, Works and Writings of Jose Rizal, Particularly His

Novels Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, Authorizing the Printing and

Distribution Thereof, and for Other Purposes” is the full name of the law.

❑ In any case, Rizal law was emphatically constricted by the Christian church to
the anti-clerical issues addressed in Rizal's novels, Noli Me Tangere and El

Filibusterismo.

2. Why is Rizal Law important?

❑ The Rizal Law, enacted in 1956, aims to achieve the following objectives:

❑ To rededicate the lives of youth to the principles of liberty and nationalism for

which our heroes fought and died.

❑ To commemorate our national hero for devoting his life and works to the

development of the Filipino character.

3. Why was Rizal Law created?

❑ Jose Rizal's prominent role in achieving national independence resulted in the

passage of Republic Act 1425 on June 12, 1956. It was proposed by Senator Claro

M. Recto and became known as the Rizal Act. 429 on June 2, establishing the Rizal

Pro Patria Award as a decoration to honor Rizal's memory.

Learning Task No. 2

19TH CENTURY PHILIPPINES AS RIZAL’S CONTEXT

A. Write a 150 word essay to the following topics:

1. “Youth is the hope of our future” - Dr. Jose Rizal
- “Youth is the hope of our future” this line simply implies that the new
generation or the youth of today will going to continue to do the role and
the things of which older people have started, in other words, the
intelligence and work of the youth will take the country on the pathway of
success. The youth are the building blocks of our country. The youth is
important because they will be our future. Today they might be our
partners, tomorrow they will go on to become our leaders, Rizal believe that
a new generation of a future leaders is being born in the country, he chose
the youth to be the hope of our future because he trusts the youth can
build a better future for our country. With a proper knowledge and
education, the youth can lead and give us hope for the future of our
country.
2. “I have to believe much in God because I have lost my faith in man.” José Rizal, Noli Me
Tángere (Touch Me Not)
- “I have to believe much in God because I have lost my faith in man” this
line simply implies that we trust in God more than in man because we don't

know who is genuine, and the world we live in now isn't what it used to be.
Faith is very important in our lives since it is necessary to have faith in
order to achieve anything. When we reach our breaking points as human
beings, we are overwhelmed by our own emotions. Some people lose their
trust in God during times of adversity and difficulties because they feel
helpless and pitiful. During the terrible times, several people begin to doubt
god, asking themselves, “why did god allow this or that situation to
happen?” to my way of thinking I believe that everything happens for a
purpose and your time of tranquility and happiness will come, God doesn't
put us through problems or challenges if he knows we won't be able to
overcome them; instead, he tests us to see how strong we are and how
committed we are to him.

3. “It is not the criminals who arouse the hatred of others, but the men who are honest.”
José Rizal, Noli Me Tángere (Touch Me Not)
- “It is not the criminals who arouse the hatred of others, but the men who
are honest” this line simply implies that good, ethical people often provoke
more controversy among others than those who are immoral or wicked
inside. I would not want to live in a world if I couldn't express myself
honestly. People who deny others the right to express themselves are unfit
to live among honest people. I deny any people, any group, any church,
and any state, the authority to place a padlock on the lips – to make the
tongue a felon. I vehemently oppose the authority's power to eliminate
everyone's freedom to speak honestly. Everyone has the right to work with
their hands, to plow the soil and sow the seed, and to reap the crop. If we
do not have that right, we are all slaves, even those who deprive their
fellow men of their rights.

Essay:

1. Recall your memories of your childhood. What significant experience did you have that has
still an impact to you at present time?

- There are so many stories in my childhood. Everyone's childhood is unique.

My significant childhood experiences that molded me into the person I am
now happened when, in the middle of high school, I lost my circle of friends
because I was too focused in discovering myself. Until I cut my ties with
them, which made me miserable, but at least it made me stronger and
wiser. The lesson I learned is that in order to be a better person, you must
lose something, even someone who you really adore. The scars of the past
will gradually heal, and everything will be fine in the right time

2. How your life can relate on Riza'l life, family, childhood and early education?

- I can relate on Rizal’s childhood because just like Rizal I had a memorable
childhood that shaped me into a woman who I am now.

3. What lesson did you learned about this topic?

- I learned in this topic that Rizal had a very memorable childhood that was
characterized by his desire to learn even though he wasn’t physically strong
child however, he had a strong will that was guided and taught by his
mother, his first teacher. Jose Rizal’s education is hard because he studied
hard.
