1. Complete the sentences with the correct form of say, tell or ask.
REMEMBER!! In reporting statements we could use others verbs such as announce, declare, answer,
explain, mention, reply..... However, the most common ones to be used are say and tell. When we report
statements, we often use that, but we can sometimes leave it out.
a) Your friend Mike met his sister Anne two years ago. These are the literal words he told her. Report
them. Start with .... He told her (that) ...... or he said to her (that) ...........

26. “ I think it would be better for everybody here if you told us the truth”, we told him.
27. “ I thought you would come later so I left a message for you in the kitchen”, she told me
28. “ This is not the first time you have deceived me, and I hope it won´t happen again”, his wife told
him.
