AMR Silent Call
AMR Silent Call
Description
These counters measure the number of times that silence is detected in both the uplink and downlink for AMR
narrowband and wideband services. The measurement is performed in the best cell that the UE camps on.
Measurement point
The RNC detects speech frames in both the uplink and downlink at the IuUP layer every two seconds. It then
checks whether frame loss or erroneous frame exists. If the ratio of lost frames or erroneous frames exceeds the
threshold (20% by default) for three consecutive measurement periods (a measurement period lasts two seconds),
the RNC considers that silence is detected during the AMR service and measures this counter based on service
types and transmission directions in the best cell that the UE camps on. This counter is not repetitively measured
if the ratio of lost frames or erroneous frames in the incoming measurement periods exceeds the threshold after
the silence detection. The measurement resumes only when this ratio in a measurement period is lower than the
threshold.
