complete the successful programming of the CNC milling machine.

miscellaneous code (M-Code) used for programming.
 To understand the advantages, disadvantages and applicability of CAD/CAM.

2.0 THEORY
CAD (computer-aided design) is the use of computer-based software to aid in design processes.
CAD software is frequently used by different types of engineers and designers. CAD software can be
used to create two-dimensional (2-D) drawings or three-dimensional (3-D) models. CAD enables the
development, modification, and optimization of the design process. CAD enables the development,
modification, and optimization of the design process. Thanks to CAD, engineers can make more
accurate representations and modify them easily to improve design quality.
Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) is the use of software and computer-controlled machinery
to automate a manufacturing process. Based on that definition, you need three components for a CAM
system to function: Software that tells a machine how to make a product by generating toolpaths.
Greater speed in producing components. Greater accuracy and consistency, with each component or
finished product exactly the same. Greater efficiency as computer controlled machines do not need to
take breaks. High sophistication in terms of following complex patterns like tracks on circuit boards.
The main difference between CAD and CAM programming is CAD stands for Computer-Aided
Design (in some circles, it can refer synonymously to Computer-Aided Drafting), which refers to the
design or modification of a digital model while CAM is Computer-Aided Manufacturing and controls
the machine used to produce a part.

3.0 INTRODUCTION
Computer-aided design (CAD) is the use of computer systems to aid in the creation, modification,
analysis, or optimization of a design. Computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) is an application
technology that uses computer software and machinery to facilitate and automate manufacturing
processes. Many CAD vendors market fully integrated CAM systems, aptly called CAD/CAM systems.
These CAD/CAM packages deliver many advantages. For starters, they feature a common user
interface that allows CAD operators to quickly learn the software. Moreover, users can easily transfer
CAD data to the CAM system without worrying about translation errors or other difficulties. And
finally, some integrated systems provide full associatively, which means that any modification to the
CAD model will prompt the associated tool path to be automatically updated. Computer Aided Design
(CAD) has completely changed the drafting business and made the storage and retrieval of projects
much easier. However, manual drawing is still very important and provides the basics of learning to
draw.
The first system were very expensive, the computer graphics technology was not so advanced at
that time and using the system required specialized H/W and S/W which was provided mainly by the
CAD vendors. The first CAD systems were mainframe computer supported systems, while today the
technology is for networked but stand with alone operating workstations (UNIX or WINDOWS based
systems). AUTODESK was the first vendor to offer a PC based CAD system the AUTOCAD (beginning of
1980). Today WINDOWS is the main operating system for CAD systems.
The first applications were for 2D-Drafting and the systems were also capable of performing only
2D modelling. Even today 2D-drafting is still the main area of application (in terms of number of
workplaces). Later, (mid-1980), following the progress in 3D modelling technology and the growth in
the IT H/W, 3D modelling systems are becoming very popular. 3D modelling are at the beginning wire
frame based. Aerospace and automotive industries were using surface modelling systems for exact
representation of the body of the product. At the same time solid modelling was recognized as the
only system, which could provide an unambiguous representation of the product, but it was lacking
adequate support for complex part representations. Today we are experiencing a merge of solid and
surface modelling technology. Most solid modelling systems are capable of modelling most of
industrial products. Systems sold today (especially for mechanical applications, which are the majority
of systems sold world-wide) are characterized as NURBS (Non Uniform Rational B-Spline) based
systems, employing solid modelling technology, and they are parametric and feature based systems.
The use of CAD systems has also been expanded to all industrial sectors, such AEC, Electronics, Textiles,
Packaging, Clothing, Leather and Shoe, etc. Today, numerous CAD systems are offered by several
vendors, in various countries.

4.0 ADVANTAGE AND DISADVANTAGES

Advantage:
 Application Flexibility while using CAD software allows style changes to become quickly.
 Design Flexibility.
 Automated Specification Checking.
Disadvantage:
 Handling Energy Restrictions and Cost.
 Application Complexity.

5.0 EQUIPMENT
 360 Fusion

6.0 PROCEDURES OF CAD

1) The base plate is sketched the same as in the given diagram using the create sketch section.

2) Then, all parts of the base plate are extruded to a size of 10mm.
3) Then on the past as in the picture above, the base plate is added again extruded with a size of
3mm. If extruded from the original site of the drawing, it is necessary to add an extruded of 13mm.

4) After that, make a chamfer sketch on each part of the outer sketch with a size of 3mm.
5) On the open part on the model that needs to be chamfered also with a size of 2mm.

6) Then, drill 4 holes on the base plate model with a size of 8mm in diameter.
7) For the last part of CAD, make a sketch of the name using the create sketch of the text part. The
font size used is 10mm. Finally, extruded that name with size -2mm

8.0 DISCUSSION
 What is the importance of CAD in designing?
- With CAD software, you can create as many copies of a design as you like. This is a huge
advantage over manual drafting.
 How has CAD affected the design industry?
- CAD tool shave allowed us as engineers to create realistic-looking parts on our computer
screens with ease. One of the biggest advancements that CAD has brought engineers is the
ability to render parts or assemblies to their near-final appearance.
 How does CAD and CAM help automation?
- CAD systems enable designers to view objects under a wide variety of representations and
to test these objects by simulating real-world conditions. Computer-aided manufacturing
(CAM) uses geometrical design data to control automated machinery.

9.0 CONCLUSION
In conclusion, I have learned and understood about Autodesk fusion 360 applications. I have also
learned the programming concepts needed to complete the successful programming of Autodesk
fusion 360. In addition, I can distinguish the use between Siemens NX and Autodesk fusion 360 In
short, the objective of this experiment has been achieved.
