9. Objective(s) of Course :
After completing this course, students should be able to:
1. understand concept, theory and history of industrial relation development.
2. describe the processes of human relationship in context of industrial relation.
3. understand activities in Malaysia industrial relation such as the establishment
and implementation of union trade including the recognition, negotiation and
agreement, industrial disputes and resolution mechanisms, and union
leadership.
4. Assess provisions of enactments in labour law and the effects in labour
administration.
13. Synopsis:
This course will look at the administration of elements associated with labour
administration. Indirectly it will involve the processes in industrial relations such as
unions’ registration, rights and responsibilities of employees, employer and unions,
recognition, negotiation and collective agreement, industrial disputes and the roles of
industrial court. In addition, several elements related to the labour legislation will also
emphasized in this course; Unions Act 1959, Industrial Relations Act 1967 and
Employment Act 1955.
