Exercise 3 - Aisyah - Insyirah

This document discusses the results of a study analyzing factors that lead to gadget dependency among students. It specifically examines whether there are differences in gadget dependency levels across gender, age groups, and current academic program (degree vs. diploma). The t-test results showed that there were no significant differences in gadget dependency levels across these factors.

TUTORIAL EXERCISE 3: T-TEST

TITLE :
FACTORS THAT LEAD TO GADGET DEPENDENCY AMONG STUDENTS

PROVIDED FOR :

NAME STUDENT ID CLASS

NURUL NORAISYAH BINTI BADARUDDIN AFANDI 2020813606 N4AM2285D

QUESTION 1
Is there any differences in the total overall level of gadget dependency across gender
(Male and Female)?

Levene’s Test (n=50)

Variable F Sig.

Level of Gadget .947 .335

Dependency

Significance value is equal to p-value. According to the decision rule, if p-value is greater than
0.05, there is no significance value. Hence, equal variance assumed. Since (p-value=0.335) is
greater than 0.05 hence no significance value and equal variance assumed.

Independent T-test (n=50)

Variable t df. Significance

Level of Gadget 1.033 48 .307

Dependency

Based on the independent sample T-test, there is a significant difference in the total overall level
of gadget dependency between male and female; t(48)=1.033, p=.307. Since p-value=.307
which is greater than 0.05, therefore there is no significance difference in the total overall level
of gadget dependency between male and female.
QUESTION 2
Does the total overall level of gadget dependency vary by age groups?

Levene’s Test (n=50)

Variable F Sig.

Level of Gadget 0.000 0.000

Dependency

Significance value is equal to p-value. According to the decision rule, if the p-value is lesser
than 0.05, there is a significance value. Hence, equal variance is not assumed. Since
(p-value=0.000) is lesser than 0.05 hence there is significance value and equal variance is not
assumed.

Independent T-test (n=50)

Variable t df. Significance

Level of Gadget .398 48 .692

Dependency

Based on the independent sample T-test, there is a significant difference in the total overall level
of gadget dependency between the age group of 21-23 and 24 and above; t(48)=.398, p=.692.
Since p-value=.692 which is greater than 0.05, therefore there is no significance difference in
the total overall level of gadget dependency between the age group of 21-23 and 24 and above.
QUESTION 3
Does the total overall level of gadget dependency differ by current academic undertaking
(Degree and Diploma)?

Levene’s Test (n=50)

Variable F Sig.

Level of Gadget 1.157 .288

Dependency

Significance value is equal to p-value. According to the decision rule, if p-value is greater than
0.05, there is no significance value. Hence, equal variance assumed. Since (p-value=0.288) is
greater than 0.05 hence no significance value and equal variance assumed.

Independent T-test (n=50)

Variable t df. Significance

Level of Gadget -.284 48 .778

Dependency

Based on the independent sample T-test, there is a significant difference in the total overall level
of gadget dependency between different current academic undertaking; t(48)=-.284, p=.778.
Since p-value=.778 which is greater than 0.05, therefore there is no significance difference in
the total overall level of gadget dependency and current academic undertaking (Diploma and
Degree).
