III. PROCEDURE:

Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity

A. Daily Routines:
1. Greetings and Opening Prayer

Good morning class!

Good morning Sir!

Let us stand and pray! Who

wants to lead the prayer?
Yes, Charlotte?
Hail Mary, Full of Grace, The Lord
is with thee. Blessed art thou among
women, and blessed is the fruit of
thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary,
Mother of God, pray for us sinners
now, and at the hour of our death.
Amen.
Thank you, Charlotte!

Now, let’s check the attendance. Do we

have absentees for today?

None, Sir!

Good job! Let us give ourselves three claps

and say good job two times!
(The students will give themselves
three claps and say good job two
times)
B. Motivation:
I need students to solve this 4 pic 1 word
this activity is under our lesson.
(teacher shows the pictures)

(student are raising their hand)

Okay. Abby, what is the answer?

Very Good! Abby. Teacher, the answer is Skin Sir.

How about the second one?

Yes, June

Sir, the answer is Nail.

Impressive! June
Your answers are related to our topic for
today.

C. Lesson Proper

Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity

Our topic for today is all about Integumentary

System

First let’s define the word integumentary, any

idea what is integumentary?
Yes, Liah. Sir, it’s an enveloping or external
layer or covering (as of skin,
hair, scales, feathers, or cuticle)
of an organism or one of its parts

Great job
Now can you tell me, what is the largest organ
system in our body?
Yes, Hannah?
Sir, it’s the skin.

Exactly! Hannah
The skin and its derivatives (hair, nails, sweat
and oil glands) make up the integumentary
system.

Now why do we need a skin?

Yes, Jean? To protect our inner organ from
bacteria, virus, and repels water

Perfect! Jean
Now, what do you observe when you are playing,
dancing, running and doing your PE?
Yes, Kim? We are getting sweating, Sir

Exactly! We are sweating

Why do we sweats when we are dancing, running
and more
Yes, Grace? To control our body temperature

Excellent! To control our body temperature

Now when we talk about the integumentary

system it refers to the skin and its accessory
structures. In the adult human body, the skin
1.
makes up about 16 percent of body weight and
covers an area of 1.5 to 2 m2.

The skin is composed of two main layers. What

are the two main layers of the skin? Sir, we have epidermis, dermis
and beneath the dermis lies
Yes, Alexia?
the hypodermis

Very good, we have epidermis is the top part of

our skin, dermis is the middle and lastly we have
the hypodermis the below part of our skin

Between the dermis and epidermis we will find

the accessory structure such as what?
Yes, Nicole? Such as hair, nails and glands
Sir!

Impressive Nicole
in addition we can also find the sensory receptors
which is the sense of touch.

What type of sensory receptors do we have

between the epidermis and dermis?
Yes, Ivan? Is the sense of touch Sir!

Very good! Ivan

Next one we have the hypodermis. Hypodermis is
under of our skin but is actually not part of the
skin but its function is to anchor the skin and the
muscles

Again what is the function of hypodermis?

Yes, Adrian? Is to anchor the skin and the
muscles, Sir!

Excellent! Aldrian.
Do you know that hypodermis has a rich supply
of blood vessels? This makes the hypodermis a
good medicine.

Why is hypodermis a good administer of

medicine? Hypodermis has rich supply of
Yes, Kyla? blood vessels, Sir!

That’s right Kyla good job

Now who can tell me the first function of the

integumentary system? Sir, to protect our body from
Yes, Myka? wind, water, and UV sunlight.
Very good! How about the second one? Sir, the sensory function
Yes, Kim? specialized sensory nerve
structures that detect touch,
surface temperature, and pain.

Ok next! Sir, the thermoregulation helps to

Yes, Martin! regulate body temperature.

Sir, the excretion the skin

Excellent! How about the fourth one?
excretes waste and impurities via
Yes, Jean?
sweat.

Very good! How about the last one Sir, the Vitamin D synthesis the
Yes, Lyn?
skin synthesizes vitamin D when

Precisely, That’s the function of the

integumentary system. Now let’s proceed to the
accessory organ of the integumentary system.
Now who can tell me what are the accessory Sir, the hair, nails, sweat glands
organs of the integumentary system?
and sebaceous glands.
Yes, Nicole?

Great! First we have the hair. It is made up of

columns of tightly packed dead keratinocytes and
it is found and scattered all over the body. It is
divided into different parts namely hair follicle
and hair bulb. Now what are the 2 parts we have
Sir, hair follicle and hair bulb
in the hair?
Yes? Hannah?

Very good! We have the hair follicle and hair

bulb. The hair follicle anchors the hair to the skin,
it opens sebaceous glands and it regulates hair
growth. It lets the oil and wax from the body go
out. Next we have the hair bulb. It forms the base
of the hair follicle, it modifies hair growth and
structure at different times of life and it is made
up of living cells that divide and grow to build the
hair shaft. (The teacher pointing the hair follicle
and hair bulb to the student will discussing)
Sir, we have nails.

Next, what is the second accessory organ of the

integumentary system?
Yes, Liah?

Very good! Nails cover the tips of the finger and

toes. It is also an accessory organ of the
integumentary system that is made up of a sheet The nail plate and nail cuticle,
of hardened keratinocytes. It protects the fingers Sir.
and toes from environmental damage. It is made
up of several parts namely a nail plate and nail
cuticle. Now what are the 2 parts that we have in
the nail?
Yes, Grace?

Great! We have a nail plate and nail cuticle. The

nail plate is the actual fingernail and it is made up
of translucent keratin. Next to the cuticle it is a
layer of clear skin located at the bottom edge of
the fingers and toes. (The teacher pointing the
hair follicle and hair bulb to the student will
discussing)

Sir, Exocrine Gland!

Now we will discuss the last accessory organ of

the integumentary system. We have the?
Yes, Alexia?

Excellent! Alexia
We have the Exocrine Gland. It helps produce We have Sebaceous gland and
body sweat, oil and wax, helps cool down the Sweat gland, Sir!
skin surface, helps protect the skin and
moisturizes the skin surface. It is divided into 2
parts namely sebaceous gland and sweat gland.
Now what are the 2 parts of the exocrine gland?
Yes, Mary?

Very good, Mary! We have Sebaceous gland and

Sweat gland. Sebaceous gland is a small-oil
producing gland found in the dermis, it is
attached to the hair follicles and it produces oil
sebum, and waxy substance. Sweat Gland is a
small tubular structure of the skin that produces
sweat found in the dermis and goes out of the skin
pores. (The teacher pointing the hair follicle and
hair bulb to the student will discussing)

Yes, Sir!

Very Good!
None, Sir!
Those are the parts and function of the
integumentary system
Now are we clear in the integumentary system
(The students will give
and its parts and function?
themselves three claps and say
good job two times)
Any question class?

Very Good. Now give yourself a good job clap

D. Generalization:

Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity

Now let me see if you still remembered our
lesson for today's discussion.
Can you give me one example of part of the
integumentary system?
Yes, Lisa? Dermis, Sir!

Very Good!
Another, Yes, Nicole Epidermis, Sir!

Excellent! What is the largest organ system

in our body?
Yes, Carmela? It is the skin, Sir!

Very Good!
Give yourself 5 claps (student clap 5x)

E. Application

Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity

Say POWER if the statement is true and say

VIVIYS if the statement is false

1, Cuticle is a layer of clear skin located at

the bottom edge of the fingers and toes.

2, The skin synthesizes vitamin D when

exposed UV radiation.

3, Hair bulb forms the base of the hair

follicle

4. The Dermis is the part of the skin that you

see everyday.

5. Hair Bulbs let the oil and wax from the

body go out.

F. Valuing

The teacher will ask her students What is the

important role of the integumentary system Hannah:
in our body? The important role of the integumentary
Yes, Hannah?! system in our body it protect us from
bacteria, virus and if we don’t have skin
there’s nothing to protect our inner organ
Teacher: Excellent, Hannah! and we will easily get sick

IV. EVALUATION:
