Work at height was analyzed for job safety. Seven job steps were identified: 1) fall from height during job, 2) fall due to unsafe working platforms, 3) fall due to unsafe access, 4) hit by the structure, 5) fall through small openings, 6) falls from ladders, and 7) falls from fragile surfaces. Controls included ensuring proper safety equipment, training, medical fitness for workers, installation of edge protections, floor covers, stopping work during high winds, prohibiting homemade or damaged ladders, proper ladder placement, barricading fragile surfaces, and using safety nets and harnesses with lifelines. Persons responsible for each control were also identified.
