So first we have to go to website:- https://hackthebox.eu/ .

It'll look like this

Click on join now to sign up, or if you already have a account, simply press sign in.

After you logged in you will see dashboard.

Now the confusion arises! Most of the people don't know what to do after logging. You have to follow
these steps.

1. Click on connect to htb at upper right corner.


2. You will be seeing machines, starting point and release arena.
Let me explain what are these:-

First of all these are all vpn packs it's necessary to download them because then only you can access
machine. you'll be in htb's network.

➣ Realese Arena- Whenever a new machine releases, you have to connect to release arena vpn pack.

➣ Machines- If you want to play active machines, you have to downlad machine vpn pack.

➣ Starting point- Starting point machines are for those who just started htb. Walkthroughs are available
for that machines, you can download that and do machine by seeing walkthoruh, just to get idea how
machines are made in htb.

➣ Fotress- This vpn pack is for fotresses, You can play fotresses when you reach hacker rank.

Q. How to download these vpn packs and use them.

Ans- Fowllow these steps.

As you can see there is machine named vpn. click on that and you'll be seeing two options. "OPENVPN"
and "PWNBOX".
Openvpn- By this you can use your kali machine to pwn machine.

Pwnbox- You'll be given a parrot machine by htb for a limited time, so that you can play machine in
broswer it self.

1. Click on Openvpn and then select download.

It'll be downloaded on your kali machine.

2. Open a new terminal and navigate to the folder where your vpn file is.

3. Use this command to connect to vpn:- sudo openvpn file.ovpn.

4. You'll get somethings as "Initalization sequence completed" when you run command, it means you
are succesfully connected to the vpn.
Grats! You are succesfully connected to the vpn!! : )

➣Some Important and necessary tips before doing the machine and how to join a machine.

1. So first go to website, then at lest side you can see this:-


Click on
lab then machines or starting point or challenges, it depends on you what you wanna play. I'll be going
with machines now, the process is same in all.

2. After clicking on machines you can find various machines, choose any one of them, when you'll click
the machine name it'll take you to this page.
Simply click on join machine to make it active. You'll get a ip copy that by clicking on it.

➣Now, you'll think to go to that ip. But no, you can't if you try to do so, you'll get a error. This is because
our machine don't know that ip. It's not on the dns list. So you have to add it to you hosts file. format:-
ip machine.htb
So now
we have done all the things, and we are good to go! Now you can start playing the machine! Good luck
