1.0 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Jeruk Pak Ali is one of the most popular company in the food industry which
produced pickles. The company is named based on the name of the founder which is
Haji Ali Bin Omar. The founder of the company are Haji Ali Bin Omar, Alias Bin
Haji Ali ( Current CEO ), Norisma Binti Ishak ( Director ). The business offered the
food snack that are commonly eat by local Malaysian which is pickles. The business
expand their product from fruit pickles to other fruit based product such as juices,
soup, face cream and ointment and also rojak paste. Pak Ali Food Ind. involve in
Halal Food & Beverage.

2.0 INTRODUCTION TO BUSINESS

Pak Ali Food Ind Sdn. Bhd. are the first to produce HALAL pickles in packing
that is known in Malaysia. The company started in 2009 which is the first
manufacturing company is located at Kawasan Perindustrian Perda Tasek Simpang
Ampat, Pulau Pinang. The company is started with Haji Ali himself with his wife and
son, Haji Alias Bin Haji Ali, along with other family members. The started of the
company is being manage by Haji Ali, his wife, Haji Alias and with 6 employee with
a 10 tonnes of pickles production in a month.
In 2011, the company started to produce another product such as fruit-based
juice,soup, face cream and ointment and also rojak paste. By the help from
government organizations help such as MARA, MARDI,FAMA and PERDA, the
company get the chance to restructure their operation with the work from trained
employee that being train to improve the quality and quantity of the products. As in
2014, Pak Ali Food Ind. Sdn. Bhd. With the helped from 85 trained employee get to
achieve 120 tonnes of production in a month.
The business offered the food snack that are commonly eat by local Malaysian
which is pickles. The business expand their product from fruit pickles to other fruit
based product such as juices, soup, face cream and ointment and also rojak paste.
This business also involved in Halal Food Beverage which is the first product
which is Jeruk Madu Pak Ali get the certification of Halal in early of their first
product release which is in the year of 2009. The company received their the current
certificate in 2019. The business keep expanding their business in the Food and
Beverage industry and continue involve in the heath care industry in the year of 2011.

3.0 BUSINESS MODEL CANVAS ( BMC )

3.1 CUSTOMER SEGMENT

Customer segment are the company or business community that you aim to
market your services or goods to. Based on needs, habits and other characteristics
they share, customers may be segmented into different classes. Demographics such as
age, race, occupation, gender or psychological segmentation such as spending
behaviour, interests, and motivations can also describe a consumer segment. A
company can choose, through its goods and services to target a single community or
multiple groups.
Pak Ali Ind. focusing toward demographics and also psychological for their
customer segments. For demographic segmentation, Pak Ali Food Ind. focusing
toward tourist who came to visit Pulau Pinang. Usually the pickles that Pak Ali sells
are bought by the tourist whether domestic tourist also other country tourist who came
to Pulau Pinang. One characteristics about Jeruk Madu Pak Ali as a well-known
signature of tourism in Pulau Pinang is the tastes of the pickle has their unique taste
and delicious snack for anyone whether from Malaysia or other country to taste it.
For psychological segmentation that Pak Ali Food Ind. focus are about the
interest of Malaysian or other country tourist in Malaysia who like pickles as their
snacks. Not everyone of us loves to eat the pickles but with the taste itself that being
made skilfully made the pickles taste better eventhough for the first eater of pickles.
The first eater of pickles will not face any difficulties in trying eat pickles once they
try eat pickles that made by Pak Ali Food Ind. which are Jeruk Madu Pak Ali.

3.2 VALUE PROPOSITIONS

Pak Ali Food Ind. Has produces many product such as pickles, paste, juices, face
cream and many more. Among the products, the pickles which is Jeruk Madu Pak Ali
has been well-knownin the industry of Food and Beverage for a long time. The
product itself has been certified by JAKIM itself for their Halal food which there is no
illegal ingredient and safe for the Muslim in Malaysia to eat the pickles.
Along with the brand name that is well-known to tourism industry, the pickle,
Jeruk Madu Pak Ali itself has their uniqueness taste and also delicious taste. This is
because the product itself is very in tune with the taste of Malaysian public. With its
good taste, it further reinforces the effectiveness of the product in marketing.

3.3 CHANNEL

It clarifies how a company interacts with and reaches its customer segments in
order to deliver its value proposition. They could be their own channels, partner
channels, or a mix of both. A variety of delivery channels including smart phone apps,
websites, ratings and reviews, word of mouth, partnerships, rewards points, and social
media.
Pak Ali Food Ind. use some channel to promoting their product such as the uses
of social media. This is because the marketing strategies of the business find out that
people nowadays more likely using apps such as Facebook, YouTube, Whats App and
other social media app to fill their free time. The Marketing Team use the media
social as the platform to gives a lot of informations about their product by media
social. For the customer who want to buy the product, they can contact the seller or
the agent directly to find out more about the product such as if there any promotions
for the product and usually clients ask about the price of the product itself.

3.4 CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP

Dictate the nature of the relationships that can be formed by a company and its
varied customer segments. It is driven by customer acquisition, customer retention,
and revenue growth to maintain, develop and improve customer relationships. There
are four types of personal service customer relationships. Personal assistance is
focused on interaction with humans. Secondly, key account managers maintain
personal relationships with significant customers with committed personal assistance.
Third is self-service that does not retain any direct customer relationships. Finally,
digital service combines self-service for consumers with automated processes.
Pak Ali Food Ind. use the types of personal assistance which is based on human
interaction among them. The customer who want to buy the product can buy it at the
store which will be interaction among customer and also te seller or agent. During
Covid-19 MCO, the product itself can be buy online which the customer can order
online and the seller will do a process of Cash on Deliveries which the customer need
to pay cash or transfer and seller will deliver towards customer doorstep.

3.5 REVENUE STREAMS

Revenue Streams is how the business or organization earns money that is known.
It represents the cash generated from each customer segment by a company. There are
four sources of revenue streams in which Bookurve.com, for instance, sells asset sales
books. Secondly, for hotels and parcels, the user fee is the distribution service.
Thirdly, subscription fees include for instance, gyms, Netflix and telecommunications.
Finally, as an example, Go Cars offers car rental services with lending.
For Pak Ali Food Ind, the company prefer assets sales for its revenue streams.
The business generate their revenue by selling the product to customer which the
customer can choose whether to transfer money online or by cash. The business also
gain their revenue by selling the product towaards retailer, agent and also stockist of
their business.

3.6 KEY ACTIVITIES

Key activities refer to the actions that must be done by a company in order to
fulfil its business objective. R&D, innovation, communications, distribution and
customer service are the most important tasks a company does to make its business
model succeed.
Pak Ali Food Ind. focus in making sales and generate revenue. The company sells
the product to customer directly and also the retailer such as Mydin, Mega Bhd and
also any other retailer in Malaysia. The company also provide the marketing in order
to increase the sales of their products. Many possible marketing that being done by
the company such as online marketing via social media.

3.7 KEY RESOURCES

The most critical tools required to make a business model work are established.
Any business model requires them and it is only through them that companies
produce value propositions and profits. Main resources can be physical, financial,
academic, or human capital.
Pak Ali Food Ind. Send their employee to any campaign that can increase their
quality of work while working in the company producing products. Campaign that
Pak Ali Food Ind has sent their employee such as to MARDI and MARA for them to
learn more about the quality of their current product and make an evolving result after
they attend the campaign. That helps the company to develop their products from less
quality of product into high quality product which provide many nutrition in making
the products.

3.8 COST STRUCTURE

Cost structure is determine when both the costs and expenses incurred by the
company while the business model is operating. Teams must consider the most
significant business costs and create hypotheses for these expenditures in order to fill
the business model canvas cost structure block.
The cost structure of Pak Ali Food Ind are the supplier and retailer itself and the
capital that are being used for the marketing product also for the uses of R&D team.
The supplier goods for the products and retailers who take the products for the sales
of the products. For marketing teams also the cost and expenses use are included
even though by online marketing through media social. The main purpose of the cost
and expenses are being use in R&D team which distribute their employee to any
campaign that can make a new development for their products.

3.9 KEY PARTNERS

It is the partnerships of the corporation with other companies, government, or


non-consumer organizations that make the business model function. There may be
partnerships that the corporation has with suppliers, manufacturers, corporate partners
and others. These relationships will eventually create powers that help organizations
succeed in places that would be unsustainable for the organization to do so.There are
four types of partners that are cooperative partnerships for the development of new
businesses and dealer agreements between non-competitors, competition and joint
ventures. For optimization and economic size, the organization should have alliances,
minimize risk and uncertainty, and develop unique tools and activities.
Key partner to Pak Ali Food Ind are supplier and retailer also company agents
themselves. The supplier will provide all the goods that are for the development of the
products itself. The retailer will take the product that being develop to their retail
centre and sell the products to the customer. The retailer is such as Mydin and Mega
Berhad which display the product in their retail centre for the customer to buy the
product. For the company agent, they keep the product that they bail by retail and
sells it through online shopping such as Lazada and also Shopee that are well-known
in Malaysia.

4.0 CONCLUSION

In the nutshell, this assignment of BMC report for the company that I choose
which is Pak Ali Food Ind give me more knowledge of how to create and evaluate a
business. By making the report, we can identify the problems that are affecting the
business and indirectly reduce the losses and increase and capitalize on the existing
business competition. This Business Model Canvas (BMC) also help the entrepreneur
themselves to facilitate business work.
