Ziale Expectations
Ziale Expectations
By now, you must be getting used to the feel of Ziale exams. Give yourself a pat on the back,
you are doing well.
Devise a strategy to memorise your DEED CLAUSES. Acronyms can help you remember
your clauses.
Know your completion statements - I have personally not seen any exam without these. It's a
loved topic by examiners. Ziale will not unleash lawyers on the market that do not know how to
prepare a completion statement.
Make the LAZ Conditions of Sale your Bible. Know them, and understand them, your short
questions will come from these, examiners love pairing a short question with long questions.
Take advantage of these questions, because they may be a deciding factor as to whether you are
passing or not.
Assignments and Contracts are ALWAYS examined. Know these very well.
Know your conveyancing cycle, and which lawyer does what. (ie lawyer for the
purchaser/vendor).
Know what documents are required for obtaining state consent and know *the requirements
under which non- zambians* are capable of holding land in Zambia.
Mortgages are HARD and loved by examiners. Know and understand them.
A TIP - PASSING BOOK KEEPING AND ACCOUNTS: HEAD 2 OF ZIALE
Dear Ziale students, If ethics went bad, burry it. Focus on the next paper. You cannot afford to be
emotionally drained now, alot is at stake, you have 10 more heads to focus on.
I hope you have kept in touch with your material from day 1, as there can be no magic you can
do to know all your material overnight. Here are some few tips that will help you get a
distinction like I did.
Many of the lessons in an accounting class build on each other. Being sure that you have kept
up with concepts and how they relate to one another will help with your overall understanding of
how each process works together.
Accounting terms and processes are set up to be as logical as possible. Understanding why
certain things are done in certain ways will give you a stronger insight into what to do to tackle
each individual problem.
Work through problems with a partner, discussing the methods you used to solve it to help
each other understand more deeply how the process works.
Check for common questions that are loved by examers and master the concepts of those
topics, practice alot of these questions.
Know your strengths. DO NOT TACKLE a question you aren't sure about. You will waste
your time, and after you are halfway into the question you will realise that you don't know
certain concepts from the question.
Most accounting questions feed into each other, you will do well to be very accurate in
reaching your answers, because if you get a wrong answer, then the following question would be
a FAIL.
Accounts is marked per entry, that means it is easy to pass if you understand your debit/credit
basic principles.
Do not start with the compulsory question, unless its one you are extremely familiar with.
Usually, compulsory questions are long, it will eat into time allocated for other questions. If it
doesn't feed into other questions, answer it last.
A TIP - PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT & ETHICS BAR EXAM
Dear Ziale students, the ethics paper you are writing tomorrow is a fast paced paper. You need to
time your writing very well and be as accurate as possible and avoid back and forth cancelling,
because you simply do not have that luxury of time on your hands.
Attempt even two out of the three questions you ought to write. Write them to the fullest of
your abilities and you will pass. That is inclusive of the compulsory question.
If the scenario in the question reveals that a legal practitioner has behaved unethically, then he
has. Do not showcase your intelligence to show the examiner that you can apply the law in
favour of the legal practitioner. YOU WILL FAIL, ETHICS IS RIGID.
Underline your cases or make them bold for the marker to identify quickly.
Stick to your allocated timings per question, otherwise you will not finish.
Ziale is not stingy with marks, if you have articulated a question very well, you will be given
the maximum marks allocated.
