1. Course Description

This course is a continuation of the course Contact lens 1. Students should be exposed to
a comprehensive knowledge of contact lens and able to combine the knowledge in
contact lens 1 and apply it in topics that they will learn in contact lens 2.

2. Main Topics

Students will learn about fitting various types of contact lens in all age group with
different indications and applications, how to care and keep maintenance of various
types of contact lens, to learn about complications of contact lens wear and the
managements. This subject also will cover topic of verifications of contact lens
parameter and current development of contact lens material, design and
manufacturing

3. Course Prerequisites

The students expected to have passed and cleared the following subject before
undertaking this course:
1. Contact Lens 1
2. Visual Perception and Neurophysiology 1 &2
3. Ocular Anatomy and Physiology
4. Clinical Methods 1 & 2

Upon completion of this course students will be able to:-
 Understand and know the need for soft toric lens and toric rgp lens and the
fitting methods
 Understand different modality of contact lens, advantages and disadvantage,
their maintainance, complications and management
 Understand the need for specialty lens and its indications
 Learn the recent advance in contact lens technology
 Know the available contact lens in Malaysia and the research related to contact
lens

General Skills
 To be able to develop self-study skills by working through exercises and articles
 To be able to develop an ability to fit and trouble shoot case related to contact
lens wear

Special Skills

 Able to describe indications of toric contact lens


 Able to fit and do assessment of soft toric contact lens
 Able to choose suitable contact lens type, modalities and material based on
patients ocular condition and visual need
 Able to choose proper contact lens care and maintenance
 Able to educate patient oncomplications related to contact lens wear
 To know the indications of different type of contact lens on different age
group and special purpose contact lens
