Worksheet 3 Lines and Angles

1) This document contains a mathematics worksheet for grade 9 students on the topic of lines and angles. The worksheet contains 15 multi-step problems of varying difficulty levels related to parallel lines, transversals, angles, and geometric proofs involving lines and angles. 2) The problems start with basic questions about angles in triangles and ratios of angles and progress to more complex questions proving properties of angles, parallel lines, and geometric relationships based on given information. 3) The final levels contain challenging problems requiring multiple steps to prove statements about parallel lines, angles formed by transversals, and using given information with angles and parallel lines to determine other angle measures.

CHAPTER 6: LINES AND ANGLES

LEVEL-1
1. Can a triangle have all angles less than 60  ? Give reason for your answer.

2. If in a right triangle, an acute angle is one-fourth the other, find the other.

3. An angle is 20  more than three times the given angle. If the two angles are
supplementary, find the angles.
4. Two adjacent angles on a straight line are in the ratio 3:2.Find the measure of each
angle.
5. The angles in a triangle are in the ratio 2:3:4. Find the angles of the triangle.
LEVEL -2
6. In a parallelogram ABCD, the bisectors of adjacent angles A and B intersect each
other at P. Prove that APB = 90.
7. Solve for x and y. It is given that AB // CD and CF // EG. Write the linear
relationship between x and y. Justify your answer.

8. In the figure, AB // CD & a transversal l cuts AB and CD at A & C respectively.

10.AP and BQ are the bisectors of the two alternate interior angles formed by the
intersection of a transversal t with parallel lines l and m. Show that AP || BQ.

LEVEL-3
11.In the figure given below x=y and a=b. Prove that l // n.

12.In the given figure, if AB//CD//EF,PQ//RS, RQD = 25  and CQP = 60  ,then

14.In the figure given, m and n are two plane mirrors perpendicular to each other.
Show that the incident ray CA is parallel reflected ray BD.

15.In Fig. 6.12, BA || ED and BC || EF. Show that ABC = DEF [Hint: Produce DE
to intersect BC at P (say)].
