(Shortened) Jns Sports Day (2022 - 2023)
(Shortened) Jns Sports Day (2022 - 2023)
ANCHORING
GAYATRI : A very happy morning to one and all. On this pleasant
winter morning and a wonderful day I GAYATRI : Chopra and my
team comprising of MAHIKA Babelia of 9A and VIDHI Bhardwaj of
11C welcome you all on behalf of the staff and management of
Jamnabai Narsee School, Gift City to witness our Annual Sports day.
It’s a well -known fact that Sporting is good for our physical and
mental health. At Jamnabai Narsee we encourage our students to
take-up sports and excel in them as sporting develops leadership
skills and equips children with the ability to set goals and build
character. At Jamnabai we understand that participating in sports
can lead to higher self-esteem and better social interaction. It also
helps students gain a positive outlook.
A school sports day is a red letter day on the school calendar, it’s a
day for red faces and perspiration, where t-shirts and track pants are
the order of the day. It’s a day for lots of action and smiling faces. It’s
a day for victories and defeats, for successes and failures.
1
GAYATRI : Even till date, Garuda is the representation of great speed,
power, dexterity and skill on the field and that’s why its the Mascot
of Jamnabai Narsee School Gift City!
Spring is in the air as the weather gods have calmed down a little and
the temperatures are now hovering close to 28 degrees. It is without
doubt, that our well-practiced March Past would be a great success.
Since the past few days the sun has been playing hide and seek and
that has been making me anxious to think about the Marchpast and
the other sports day events, but I needn’t have worried: the sun,
clearly under the orders of the school counsil members, came out
and shown bright, today.
I am sure that the sun is out on the cue that the Inspecting Office,
Ms. Pragnya Mohan is inspecting the parade escorted by

are going to be judged. March past is a qualitatively judged event,

humanity. She has a huge list and a trail of achievements.
In Birmingham 2022, she led India's triathlon debut at
the Commonwealth Games and in 2019, she became the first
triathlete to represent India in the Triathlon World Cup. She is and
has been one of the very best South Asian and National Triathlon
Champions and has won gold medals at the South Asian Games and
the National Games and as if that wasn’t enough she is also a
Chartered accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of
India.
I’d like to invite ________ to present a bouquet to our Chief Guest
Ms. Pragnya Mohan.
TORCH RELAY
GAYATRI : Now its time to begin this action packed day with the
lighting of the sporting torch without which any sporting event is
incomplete. Please take a look at the beckoning sports field this fine
winter/spring morning, where not only the sports torch but also a
symbol of our passion for sporting, is waiting to be kindled. Let me
take this opportunity to invite our Chief Guest Ms. Pragnya Mohan to
step up and do the honours by igniting the flame which represents
our endeavour for achievement and struggle for victory. I would like
to request __________ to escort __________.
GAYATRI : The torch is now lit and is being carried by the sports Capt
Bhavya Patel, Sports Wise Capt Sahaj Porwal and the Sports
Coordinator Mr. Kaushal Kuchara.
3
VIDHI : Historically; the most common use of torches was to shed
light in darkness and honouring the Greek god Zeus.
Educationally; its message for mankind, is to teach people fair play
and instil a high regard towards cooperation and togetherness. And
Artistically; it enhances the elegance of sporting ceremonies.
GAYATRI : The sacred flame has now reached The National Level
Lawn Tennis Players of our school. Its been handed over to Niyati
Khandelwal of Gr 8 who is being accompanied by Satyajit Rao and
Vihaan Bhandari of Gr8 and Yashika Yadav of Gr 6. All these
students have done the school proud at National Level Lawn Tennis.
GAYATRI : Next team to receive the fire of the gods is the National
Level Taekwondo players of JNS among them one of our very best is,
Aakansha Ladhwani of Gr 10 and she is being handed the torch. She
is accompanied by Dhrish Sonigra and Dhruvi Jain of Gr 7 Jinit Patel
and Teeshya Verma of Gr 8 and Aarohi Popat of Gr 6. Lets hear a
loud round of applause for all our athletes today.
Finally the torch has been received by our National level Basketball
players and is in the hands of Rudra Chauhan our basketball team
4
captain who is in Gr12. He is joined by Dhruvin Shah, Prajwal
Chaudhari and Parv Singh of Grade 12.
From the Olympic Games to the Annual Sports Day of Jamnabai
Narsee, the torch ceremony may have altered a bit. But the
symbolism has not.
Flying hydrogen balloons signify growth and high spirits. The release
of balloons signifies our endeavour to, celebrate life and success & is
a great way to commence a memorable ceremony.
MAHIKA : These balloons rising into the sky, taking with them the
banner of Jamnabai Narsee School are proclaiming to everyone that
every child in this institution will reach for the skies and endeavour
to excel. Peace is a journey of a thousand miles and it must be taken
one step at a time. These balloons remind us that each one of us is
an angel and we can only fly by embracing one another and working
in a spirit of true harmony and peace.
MARCH PAST
GAYATRI : : Similar to the grand parade in New Delhi, akin to the
different regiments of the Army, Navy and Air Force marching in all
their finery and official decorations, the various contingents of the
5
school will now display the March Past and our Chief Guest Ms.
Pragnya Mohan shall take the salute.
The marchpast is not just a parade but infact our marching platoons
are going to be judged. March past is a qualitatively judged event,
which makes it very technical to coach. Each contingent shall be
judged for coordination, carriage, arm swing, leg action, length of
pace and timing
6
VIDHI : Following the Student Council is the platoon of Scouts and
Guides. Under proper training and guidance right from childhood,
positive values and attitudes can be nurtured in children to make
them mature and responsible citizens of the nation.
Lets give a loud round of applause for our boy scouts and girl guides.
VIDHI : The next contingent is that of Einstein house with their sky-
blue flag which seems to be having a conversation with the wind as
the contingent marches on.
7
VIDHI : The rearmost contingent, which is by no means the last, is
that of Tagore house with their Ochre coloured flag which epitomizes
- the force of determination.
ATHLETES OATH
(DISPERSAL OF THE PARADE)
GAYATRI : The school sports day is a day when students are freed
not only from their classrooms to jump and run around but also from
the fetters of academic learning. It is a day for mothers and fathers
to cheer on their sons and daughters. Moreover, Sports Day is a day
for celebrating the spirit of sportsmanship. So let’s begin the Annual
Sports Day with lots of enthusiasm, passion, and vigour.
OPENING CEREMONY
MPT
MAHIKA : A colourful and dazzling opening ceremony is something
we all look forward to at any sporting event and we at Jamnabai,
GIFT city have always believed that a healthy body hosts a healthy
mind, and thus, physical fitness needs to be a part of our everyday
routine. On that note, let’s combine some bling factor with our daily
8
dose of exercises along with some unbelievably synchronized body
movements.
Please put your hands together for the Mass PT presented by
students of Grade 5. Through this grand sporting and fitness display,
the students wish each other luck and challenge their peers to
perform keeping their best foot forward.
GYMNASTICS DISPLAY
GAYATRI :
Wow that was truly amazing!
One of the indoor activities done at school, is a sport involving
exercises requiring physical strength, agility and coordination. Well
yes, I am sure you guessed it right, I am referring to Gymnastics.
Gymnastics; is a sport about body control which also builds strength
and flexibility and helps children grow in self-confidence and mental
toughness. Additionally, gymnastics encourages kids to set goals and
gain the discipline to achieve them. It helps children, overcome fear
and it improves motor skill development and accelerates learning.
Gymnastics has non-physical benefits as well and helps children with
school, social interaction and teaches them some awe inspiring body
movements. Besides these there is one more benefit which can’t be
ignored: gymnastics classes are great fun! So please cheer the kids by
clapping for them as the students of grades 5-8 enter the field to
perform. These students have taken up Gymnastics as their hobby
and are learning it at school.
DANCE DRILL
VIDHI :
Wow that was a wonderful display.
We at Jamnabai, GIFT city have always believed that a student
display must exhibit leadership, perfect posture, pride and attention
to detail, and the Gymnastics display was about all of that.
Well, the breeze today is electrifying and charged with a lot of pep
and exuberance, and our students surely know how to blend their
daily dose of movement with fun. Showcasing all of these are our
students of Grade 6 in their Dance Drill. So, let’s welcome them on
the field by giving them a loud round of applause.
9
TAEKWONDO DISPLAY
MAHIKA : After that spectacular multi-hued Dance Drill, it’s time for
yet another display which trains our students in Self Defence. Well, I
am talking of none other than Taekwondo. Coming up on the field
are some of our best Taekwondo performers. Practicing Taekwondo
helps in developing your self-esteem. It involves learning various
kinds of moves, postures, strikes and more. Perfecting each of these
gives our students a confidence booster and also helps them tone
their muscles.
Ladies and Gentlemen… let’s hear it for our Taekwondo performers
who have taken up this activity as their hobby at school.
FLAT RACE
MAHIKA :
Thanks ma’am, Thank you very much!
10
Track or field Athletics is a collection of sports events involving
running, jumping, skipping, fast walking and flat races. Flat races are
as challenging as the other innovative races. They are the true
competition of speed and stamina as the athletes need to traverse
the same distance in the shortest amount of time. So let’s begin
today’s competition with a few Flat races. But before we begin I must
briefly reiterate the rules-
Wow that was awesome. Please let not your clapping stop… a true
sportsman only needs cheering from the audience to keep him
performing to the best of his ability.
11
VIDHI : Coming up next is a ______ metres race and the athletes are
ready to take on the challenge. Flat races requires agility and physical
strength.
MAHIKA: The race is now on and the kids are running fast towards
the Finish line in order to show their swiftness and come out
victorious.
VIDHI : Wow! That was quick… I bet not many people in the audience
would like to compete with our sporting stars.
MAHIKA – (Ball Relay – Gr 5): Yes, dear parents your cheering is the
only thing we ask you to shower on our students today, as we now
begin the Fun Races. The track is already set and the athletes of Gr 5
are on their marks for the very first race – Ball Relay. Vidhi, have you
ever seen a ball relay?
12
VIDHI: No I haven’t but it sounds interesting, what is it?
VIDHI: Oh, wow that sounds fun! Plus, it’s a team relay, that’s even
more entertaining. So, the kids will be rolling the ball to each other
and then running the race, right?
MAHIKA: Oh no no, the kids are not allowed to let the ball touch the
grounds, that will be a definite disqualification
VIDHI: And with that the race comes to an end. What an amazing
piece of entertainment and an example of their skill it was!
MAHIKA : And now the field is ready for the boys of Gr5 to showcase
their talent of balancing and passing the ball in the ball relay.
VIDHI : So ladies and Gentlemen plz watch the dexterity with which
the ball is being passed from player to player.
VIDHI : Wow! And the game has come to an end. We shall soon be
announcing the winners.
CIRCUIT - GR 6
13
MAHIKA: Meanwhile, next on the cards is the Circuit race. Well let
me tell you a little about it.
The circuit race has obstacle that a runner has to jump over during a
race. The athletes have to run over a precise distance with full
stamina and cross the finish line in the fastest possible time going
over, under and through the various obstacles and hurdles.
VIDHI : Audience, eyes down at the tracks… as the Girls of Gr 6 have
taken their positions and are waiting for the clapper to go.
MAHIKA : And there goes the clapper and the race has begun.
VIDHI : Isn’t it amazing how these young athletes are putting in their
sweat and blood to ensure that their team wins today.
MAHIKA : Yessss! And the race has come to its end. For the results
we shall have to wait till we receive the names of the winners.
VIDHI : Ladies and Gentlemen the track is now set for the boys of Gr
6 to take on the same challenge as the girls just did.
MAHIKA : And I am sure you are all eager to check out if the boys are
also as dextrous as the girls were at taking on the hurdles.
VIDHI : We need not wait any further the Clapper has just signalled
that the race is on.
MAHIKA : Wow these boys are super-fast! Its almost unbelievable.
VIDHI : And with that the race has come to its end and the winners
shall soon be announced.
MAHIKA: (laughing) Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! well VIDHI… we’re not causing
any motor accidents here. Don’t worry you’d be absolutely safe
The Human Wheel race involves a team entering a canvas wheel and
travelling a specific distance to reach the finish line. This is one of the
physical games which requires a lot of space and our huge, beautiful
lush green school ground is just the right place for it.
14
VIDHI : Wow I am sure the race is going to be exciting and fun for all
participants.
MAHIKA : Yessss! and with that the race has come to its end.
MAHIKA : Yes it was and that’s why we now have the boys of Gr7
showcasing their talent at the same race The Human Wheel.
VIDHI : Look the boys are already there and all set to take on the
challenge.
MAHIKA : Wow I particularly like the way they are all moving in a
synchronised manner.
BIG FOOT
15
GAYATRI : Gr8 Well that was nail biting! And now it’s time for the
last in the line of our fun races is the Big Foot race, the athletes are
all set in their positions to take on the challenge.
GAYATRI : – Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Well no VIDHI, this race only mimics the
large sized foot of the Abominable Snowman… he isn’t really coming
to attack us. This race is a real team building event. Teams stand a-
top two over-sized “Big Feet” and attempt to coordinate and
synchronize their actions as a team to make it to the finish. It’s
harder than it looks but comes with tons of laughter for our audience
and loads of fun for the participants.
VIDHI : Hey take a look at the field, the race is just starting… as all
the participants have taken their positions and the teams are
beginning to walk.
MAHIKA : I can see that the first house has almost reached the finish
line and the rest of the houses are not too far behind. Parents you
shall have to wait a while for the results which shall be announced as
soon as we receive them.
16
VIDHI : While the results of the Girls event is getting prepared lets
watch the boys take on the challenge.
MAHIKA : Yes and the track is all set for the boys to take on the
challenge.
VIDHI : Lets see if the boys are as good at this as the girls were.
VIDHI : Wow look at that the boys have begun well and well begun is
half done.
MAHIKA : Yes isn’t it amazing that the boys have taken up the
challenge well and are doing justice to the competition and…
with that the first team seems to have reached the end with
maximum ease. Let’s give a loud round of applause for all the
participants and please bear with us till we receive the names of the
participants of the winning team.
RELAY RACES
MAHIKA :
And with that we have come to the end of the Flat race event. But
don’t you worry the best is yet to come because coming up next we
have a few relay races.
VIDHI : A relay race? Well what’s that?
MAHIKA : In a relay race, members of a team take turns completing
parts of a circuit on the racecourse. Each segment of the relay or the
distance run by one person is referred to as a ‘leg’. The runner
finishing one leg is required to pass the baton to next runner while
both are running in a marked exchange zone.
VIDHI : Wow that sounds interesting. And I can already see the
teams of various houses ready for taking on the relay challenge.
MAHIKA : Yes, that’s true. I can hear the buzz coming from the racing
track, it seems like all the teams are strategizing their win.
17
GAYATRI : A relay race is nothing but Team work at its very best. The
House spirit is very evidently displayed by the teachers as well as the
children of each house as they cheer their relay teams.
Taking a look at the field we can see the circuit is set and there goes
the clapper indicating the beginning of the race.
MAHIKA : The fifth track is that of ____________ house with its fine
members ____________, ____________, ___________ and
__________ racing in their _________ T-Shirts.
18
GAYATRI : Wow… the nail biting relay has finally come to its end.
What a fine example of amazing team work it was. A sure treat for
the eyes of the audience witnessing the event today!
TUG OF WAR
GAYATRI : Wow! That surely was a lot of fun. But wait…the fun isn’t
yet over. It has been an emotion packed day for participants and
viewers alike until now and our sports persons have been battling
like warriors on the field and enjoying themselves all the while.
Coming up next is ‘Tug of war’ typically Tug of War is a sport which
tests the strength and limit of endurance of the 2 teams pitted
against each other.
MAHIKA : I really like the way you compared the sports field to a
battle field because we may be friends on normal days but today we
are warriors fighting for accolades for our houses.
GAYATRI : Yes, it’s evident that the students are very excited and
charged-up, as if it’s a real battle... I guess that’s why the sport is
called Tug-Of-War… and naturally…not just the students even the
teachers are very high on the energy-meter.
MAHIKA : That’s absolutely true. Let’s take a look at the Students
and the teachers as they take their positions on the battlefield…
(laughing… Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!) I mean the sports field... which by the
way is very much like a battle field today.
GAYATRI : That’s true.
Well finally the contestants are all set for the Finals of TUG OF WAR,
the houses have had their preliminary rounds earlier at school. And
today we have __________ house and ______________ house taking
up the TUG OF WAR challenge.
Tug Of War is an athletic contest between two teams chained up at
the opposite ends of a rope. The game may look simple, but the
participants in tug of war are strategically placed. Each team drags
the other across a central line drawn on the ground, in an endeavour
to pull the chain of participants of the opponent team across it and
19
towards their own side. Tug of War is a real tussle; a severe contest
for declaring supremacy.
MAHIKA : The day seems to be in favour of the __________ team as
they are managing to pull the rope faster and harder.
GAYATRI : But see now… the _________ team has managed to make
good the loss and with a jerk they have been able to pull the rope
towards themselves.
MAHIKA : It is interesting to see how the Students & Teachers are
working in sync to contribute towards the winning of their teams.
But teams, please watch your step as you are engrossed in pulling
the rope… one day’s fun must not turn into lasting pain.
GAYATRI : Wow! That surely was a lot of fun. But wait…the fun
isn’t yet over. Coming up next is ‘Tug of war’ typically Tug of War is
a sport which tests the strength and limit of endurance of the 2 teams
pitted against each other. In this case the two teams are those of great
importance in the lives of the students. One team stands for their
home front, this is represented by the parents and the other team
which is equally important to the students, is the school team
represented by the teachers.
Members of both the teams are the most important people in the life
of a child and they share the quintessentially typical love-hate
relationship. Sometimes they can’t stand each other but at other times
they need to work together, for these two… the teacher and the
parent, can’t stay without each other either. Although their coming
20
together works wonderfully for the kids; today we are in the mood for
some fun. So ladies and gentlemen lets witness the tug of war between
the teachers and the parents, as they are all ready to take on each
other.
But see now… the _________ team has managed to make good the
loss and with a jerk they have been able to pull the rope towards
themselves.
Teams, please watch your step as you are engrossed in pulling the
rope… one day’s fun must not turn into lasting pain.
Wow… with that last jerk the tug of war is finally over in the favour
of the __________ team.
PARENTS RACE
MAHIKA : At Jamnabai Narsee School, Gift City, we believe that our
parents are our primary stakeholders and collaborators. They are a
cherished part of the JNS family. On a day as special as today, how
can they be left behind?
When the children have been so enthusiastic and energetic
throughout the day, then how can we not give their parents a chance
to have as much fun as their children did?
So, I request the parents to please come forward and take part in the
fun races that we have organized specially and exclusively for them.

VOTE OF THANKS - VIDHI
GAYATRI :
Every journey has its end and every path does stop somewhere. Your
support and enduring commitment have made this event so splendid
and successful. On behalf of the students and the staff, of JNS, Gift
City I would like to thank our dear parents for having taken out their
time to be with us on our Annual Sports Day.
And we obviously can’t forget to thank our sports team for all the
effort it has put in. Let me tell you, that they have toiled countless
hours on the field and sweated it out to bring forth the sportsman in
your child. So, I would like to extend a thank you to our zesty and
fiery sports team consisting of the sports Coordinator Mr. Kaushal
Kuchara, Mr. ___________, Mr. _____________, Ms. ____________,
Ms. _________ and Mr. _______________. for their magnificent
efforts
22
This is also an opportunity to express our gratitude towards our
dedicated academic and non-academic staff, in the execution of the
events of the day which are praiseworthy.
we thank the budding sports stars of JNS Gift City who participated
today and displayed tremendous sportsmanship, and accepted their
success with pride and failures with grace.
Last but not the least, I would like to thank our helpers and didis
without them this event wouldn’t have been possible and that’s a
fact.
True champions are not always the ones who win, but those who
don’t give up. Competition is the spice of sports, but if we make the
whole meal too spicy, we’ll fall sick and that’s why, it’s more
23
important to have participated than won. Although the will to win is
important, but the will to prepare is vital.
All this hard-work, calls for a loud round of cheering for our super-
stars our students, their grit, strong will, determination and energy
were unmatched today.
DISPERSAL
GAYATRI :
Indulging in sports, be it individual, dual or team sports, leads to a
major boost in self-confidence. The ability to go on the field and
perform instils a self-discipline and self-assurance, which goes a long
way in building a person’s character. Not only victory but also the
ability to accept defeat on the field and yet believe in your own
24
capabilities brings a sense of integrity & positive attitude, It also gives
our students an exposure to what’s expected and how much more
effort needs to be put in to improve their performance.
With that we come to the end of another delightful and exciting
sports day. Which shall soon be archived in the portals of the school
until, it’s time for a subsequent sports day, another year.
Winding up with this one let me once again Thank you all for
cheering the children and for being a great audience. You are now
requested to collect your ward from the following venues:
FILLERS
● Cheer our kids loud and applause them hard
● Cheer the girls loud and clear as they race towards the finish
line.
● Let us appreciate our athletes with a big round of applause
● That reminds me of a joke… I like long walks, especially when
they are taken by people who annoy me.
● The advantage to exercising every day is that you die healthier.
● EXTRA
● The school sports day is a day when students are freed not only
from their classrooms to jump and run around but also from
the fetters of academic learning. It is a day for mothers and
fathers to cheer on their sons and daughters. Moreover, Sports
Day is a day for celebrating the spirit of sportsmanship. So let’s
begin the Annual Sports Day with lots of enthusiasm, passion,
and vigor.
