Environment setup and create Work Package – Service Engineer: Joe
1. Locate the Active Workspace icon on your desktop and double click. This is the client which
you will be utilizing to access the Teamcenter environment
2. Once the login screen appears, enter the provided credentials (Service Engineer – Joe)
a. Username: joe
b. Password: joe
3. Once you have logged into Teamcenter, go to the Create Work Package tile
Page 3
4. Fill in the name Transfer Assembly in the New Work Package window, then select Create
Page 4
6. In the Add Product window, search for Card. Select Card Transfer Assembly and then select
Add Product
7. Once added, you will return to the Manage Work Package page and now will need to add an
SBOM. Select Add in the SBOM panel and then select Create New SBOM
Page 5
8. In the Create Product window, fill in the name GANTRY SERVICE ASSEMBLY and select Create
9. Your content window should now look like the image below
Page 6
Create the Service Bill-of-Materials (SBOM) – Service Engineer: Joe
1. From the Manage Work Package window, select Open in the upper right
2. Now, you should see the Align EBOM_SBOM window seen below
Page 7
3. Start by adding some SBOM Sub-Assemblies by standing on the top level of the Gantry
Service Assembly and then select Add, then Child in the SBOM panel
4. In the Add window, filling in the name Gantry and then select Add
Page 8
5. Repeat the same process for adding three more sub-assemblies to the top level, GANTRY
SERVICE ASSEMBLY, by standing on the assembly and add MOTORS, GRIPPER, and
STRUCTURE
6. Now, we will add some characteristics to the Gantry Service Assembly for tracking utilization
7. In the SBOM window, this is the window on the right, stand on the top level and select Open
8. In the Gantry Service Assembly, stand on the top level of the structure, then go to the
toolbar on the right and select New, then Create Characteristics
Page 9
9. In the Create window, you will see three options for your characteristic:
a. Life Characteristic – will stay with the part or assembly throughout its entire life and
usage. It is always accumulating
b. Date Characteristic – Notes important dates in the usage of a part for things like a
warranty
c. Observation Characteristic – Reports a piece of data at a given point of recording. It
does not accumulate.
Page 10
12. Now, using the same method, create these additional characteristics. Note: You may need to
select the gray arrow next to the characteristic type to return to the type select window to
start your next characteristic.
a. Temperature
i. Type: Observation
ii. Name: Temperature
iii. Units: degrees C
b. Warranty
i. Type: Date
ii. Name: Warranty
c. Voltage
i. Type: Observation
ii. Name: Voltage
iii. Unit: Volts
d. Run Time
i. Type: Life
ii. Name: Run Time
iii. Units: Hours
13. Return to the EBOM-SBOM Align view (This can be done by selecting the back button, or
searching for Transfer Assembly and loading it)
Page 11
14. We will now add our parts to the SBOM. Using the list below, add the parts for each sub-
service assembly by selecting the parts in the EBOM (left side), then selecting the sub
assembly you wish the parts to be added to in the SBOM (right side), and then click Assign.
You can view the quantity of the items added by scrolling to the right of the SBOM window.
a. GANTRY
i. DGD100007 – Quantity: 1

Page 12
15. Once you have assigned the above items to their SBOM sub-assemblies, your structure
should look something like the image below. This is done to bring only the relevant items
needed for the service of the Gantry instead of the entire structure.
16. Scroll to the right of the SBOM view. You should see a view that looks like the image below.
Page 13
17. In the view, this is where we can set our Part Logistics Form
a. There are 7 different options seen within the window which include:
i. Traceable means: The part will be shown in the physical structure
ii. Serialized means: Each physical part is tracked individually by a unique
identifier
iii. Lot means: Parts tracked by a group identifier for a defined number of parts
iv. Rotable means: A part can be repaired/exchanged with existing/repaired
inventory
v. Consumable means: Part deteriorates over time and must be replaced at
regular intervals based on usage
vi. Preserve Quantity means:
vii. Life Limited means: The part has a defined expiration/shelf life
18. First, make sure to expand the Motors SBOM assembly, and then expand DGD100021
19. Select the Edit button in the Gantry Service Assembly panel
20. For the top level of the SBOM, we will set both Traceable and Serialized to true to be able to
track each physical structure from this SBOM. This is done by check the box, adding a check.

i. DGD100014
ii. DGD100015
d. Add any additional components which you would like to change as well before
proceeding to the next step
Page 14
22. Once edits are complete, select to save edits at the top and your view should look like the
image below
23. Stand on the top level of the SBOM and open the SBOM
24. You can explore the SBOM structure here, including graphics of what each component is for
visual reference
Page 15
26. Go to the Edit menu on the right of the UI and select Part Logistics. You can see that you can
also access the part logistics form of the assembly from in the SBOM view and edit as

11. Now, stand on IN-SERVICE and go to the Manage menu on the right
Page 18
12. Select Set Preferred Location
13. Then, log out of Teamcenter by selecting the role icon at bottom left corner of the browser,
then select logout
Page 19
4. Go to the toolbar on the right and select New → Create Service Plan
5. In the Create Service Plan window, fill in the name Gantry Service Plan and then Select

28. Once the tools have been created, add these tools to the Assemble Gripper work card using
the copy-paste method
29. Lastly, we will need to add some power that are involved in the service and any parts or kits
needed to replace what is being removed
30. Stand on the Disassemble Gripper work card again and select Add→Child
Page 27
31. In the Add window, select Search and search for DGD100023. This is your gripper tips.
Page 28
35. Once complete, your structure should look like the image below. Once you have verified, go
ahead and log out of Teamcenter.
Page 29
3. You will now generate your As-Maintained (physical) structure. This is done by selecting the
top line of your SBOM (GANTRY SERVICE ASSEMBLY), then go to the toolbar on the right side
of the UI and select New → Create As-Maintained Structure
4. In the Create As-Maintained Structure window, fill in the following information and then
select Create

Page 30
5. Once the physical structure is created, your view will update to the physical structure
6. Note the color bar just before the item number of each item. If the bar is green, it means the
part is good to go. If the bar is red, there is something which needs to be completed on the
item. In this case, the red bars are highlighting the need for adding a serial number or lot
number which was set in the SBOM.
7. Noting where each of the red bars are, we will now fill in the serial number or lot for each of
the components. In the tree, select Edit
Page 31
8. Once Edit is selected, fields in the tree will become editable. Scroll to the right until you
locate the Serial Number field
9. Double click in the field and start to enter the serial numbers needed.
Page 32
10. Once you have completed the Serial Numbers, select Save Edits in the upper toolbar and you
will see the color bars update from red to green and the Serial Numbers will remain in the
tree.
11. Note though, you will still see a few items that are highlighted in red. These parts still need a
Lot assigned to them. Stand on the first DGD100014 item and then go to the right toolbar.
12. Select Manage→Assign Lot
Page 33
13. In the Assign Lot window, select New. Then fill in the following information and then press
