between the heights Of building and tower. (Take √3 = 1.73)

From the top of a 10 m high building, the angle of elevation of the top of a cable tower is 60⁰,
and the angle of depression of its foot is 45⁰. Find the height of the tower. (Take √3 = 1.73)

11. Prove that the lengths of tangents drawn from an external point to a circle, are equal.
OR
Prove that the tangent at any point of a circle is perpendicular to the radius through the point of
contact.
12. A toy is made up of wood and it’s upper surface painted red. The toy is in the form of a cone
mounted on a hemisphere of diameter 14cm. If the height of entire toy is also 14cm. Find the
wood required for the toy. Also find the cost of painting the toy at the rate of ₹2.5/cm².
13. Case Study-1
A group of students of class X visited India Gate on an educational trip. The teacher and had
interest in history as well. The teacher narrated that India Gate, official name Delhi Memorial,
originally called All-India War Memorial, monumental sandstone arch in New Delhi, dedicated to
the troops of British India who died in wars fought between 1941 and 1919. The teacher also
said that India Gate, which is located the eastern end of the Rajghat (formerly called the
Kingsway), is about 138 feet (42m) in height.
a. If the altitude of the Sun is t 60⁰, then find the height of the vertical tower that will cast
a shadow of length 20m.
b. They want to see the tower at an angle of 60⁰. So, they want to know the distance
where they should stand and hence find the distance.
14. Case Study-2
On Sunday, your Parents took you to a fair. You could see lot of toys displayed, and you wanted
them to buy a RUBIK’s cube and strawberry ice-cream for you.
Observe the figures and answer the questions.
a. Find the slant height of the come if radius of base is 7cm and the height is 24cm.
b. Find the length of diagonal if each edge measures 6cm.
