Introduction

Qualitative
Qualitative research is often used to gain a deeper understanding of the complexity of a situation
to draw a rich picture of what is going on especially what is going on under the hood.

Quantitative
For example, you could use a quantitative approach to measure what percentage of people
prioritize price or any other variable when choosing a laundry detergent. You could also assess how
this percentage varies between neighbourhoods, cities or different demographic groups.

Mix
Quite often mixed methods-based studies will use qualitative research to explore a situation and
develop a set of hypotheses. Then once those hypotheses are established, they will use quantitative
methods to test them. It can also work the other way around.

Qualitative Method

Strengthen:

Since the approach is characterized by emotions and personal
accounts, as opposed to using quantifiable statistics, it is assumed that the approach does not
provide accurate and consistent data.

Quantitative Methods

Strengthen:

For example, in this study, the researcher only use questionnaires. The use of statistical data for the
explanations and interpretation of the study reduces the time and effort spent by the researcher in
explaining his outcome.
Weakness:

For example, in this study, the researchers' sample size is too small, with only 28 students. Quantitative
researchers are interested in how much and how many, but their methods do not allow them to
comprehend why something occurs.
After next sentence:
For example, the statistical analysis used in this study is only limited to the average value obtained.
There is no correlation between students' writing abilities and performance evaluation.

Mix Method

Strenghten:
Exploration in other words gets a better understanding of an issue and potentially develops a theory or a
set of hypotheses on it. That is: confirming a potential theory or hypothesis by empirically testing it.

Weakness:
It is important to understand mixed research methods, to explore and understand qualitative situations
and test or measure quantitative measures to conduct mixed research methods. In each approach has
its own purpose, how researchers can select approach methodologies. To choose the right approach,
proper judgment is in order.
