This document summarizes the key elements of an Alien RPG system. Characters have attributes, skills, and other modifiers that must exceed thresholds through dice rolls to succeed at tasks or avoid stress penalties. Campaigns typically focus on space truckers, frontier colonists encountering aliens, or colonial marines. Classes are chosen to fit a group concept, and talents further specialize characters, such as a gung-ho marine who fights through panic or a cunning company agent who manipulates others.

You are on page 1/ 1
For those that dunno the system, It's the same basis model as all other of their
RPG books. Attribute+Skill+Any-Other-Modifier and you need to roll one or more 6s
to succeed. along with avoiding rolling 1s on any Stress dice also added to the pool (more stress means more extra special dice, but also bigger chance of your character panicing from it). The way of playing a campaign is almost always set up as one of 3 campaign focus': Space Truckers (Think first alien movie), Frontier Colonists (Think some of the Dark Horse comics set on frontier worlds where an alien lifeform suddenly pops up and begins murdering any and all... or think Hadley's Hope from Aliens) and finally a group made for a squad of Colonial Marines (Think any dark horse comic with Colonial Marines as focus, or Aliens with Vasquez, Hicks, Hudson, Gorman, Burke, Ripley, etc). If you know the prior RPG systems from Free League (Like Coriolis, Mutant Year Zero, etc.) then you also know about the whole Class concept where you choose a class fitting the Group Concept and then choose a talent to specify what specific KIND of Class the character is. Like a Colonial Marine that is gungho enough to endure even if he panics, he just goes hard-on with his weapon on any and all enemies, no care for health or thoughts on ammo. Or maybe it's a Company Agent that knows just how to convince others to do what he wants through pure use of wits, rather than trying to appeal on an emotional level, or perhaps It's a Colonial Marshall On a Space Station that keeps a harsh leash on his officers so crime is held low? or maybe choose another kind of angle for the character.
