This document provides guidelines for creating a standard design procedure and data sheet for fire and gas alarm and detection systems. It outlines the objectives, scope, design inputs, execution process, and product verification steps. The design inputs include general specifications, conceptual layouts, P&IDs, and vendor catalogs. The execution process involves understanding the requirements, creating a draft with sections for contents, scope, general requirements, tests, and detailed equipment data. The data sheet is meant to standardize and improve the efficiency of providing revision works to clients on fire protection equipment.

1.0 OBJECTIVE

This procedure is established to serve as a guideline in making the Data Sheet of Fire
Protection (Fire Fighting, Fire and Gas Alarm and Detection) Equipment, based on current
JGC practice. With this standard it is hoped that revision works due to client’s comments
can be reduced, thereby increasing our efficiency.

2.2 This procedure is also applied in preparing the Equipment List of Fire Protection
(Fire Fighting, Fire and Gas Alarm and Detection) Equipment which is more concise
(tabulated) than the Data Sheet but of the same purpose. Equipment list and Data
Sheet can interchangeably be used in a project-to-project basis.

2.3 This procedure enumerates the necessary design inputs and workflow in creating the
Data Sheet. It also identifies important checkpoints necessary in ensuring the quality
of the design output.

2.4 Should revision to this standard procedure for improvement purposes be deemed
necessary, such revision shall be reviewed by the Senior Lead Engineer and approved
by the Department Manager and must always satisfy the requirement of the Quality
Manual.

3.0 DESIGN INPUT

3.1 General Specification of Fire Protection (Fire Fighting, Fire and Gas Alarms and
Detection) Systems
Technical data that will be the basis of system and or equipment manufacturing shall
be referred into this document.

3.2 Conceptual Layout of Fire Protection (Fire Fighting, Fire and Gas Alarms and
Detection) Systems
The quantity of systems and or equipment can be referred into this document.

3.3 P & ID of Fire Fighting System and Block Flow Diagram

Quantities and other technical data of systems and or equipment that is not shown in
the Layout Drawing can be found in this document.

3.4 Vendor’s Catalog

This can be used as a reference to compare the client’s required technical data for
each systems and or equipment to that of the available in the market.

4.0 DESIGN EXECUTION

The preparation of this document shall proceed according to the following workflow
procedures, as a guideline.

4.1 The above design inputs shall be checked carefully and understood before to
commence any work. A clear understanding of the technical requirement will make
the job easier and faster for the design engineer.

4.2 The draft can now be started using the following format:
4.2.1 Table of Contents
4.2.2 Scope
This part will contain the project name, client, location and the extent of
provision for each project.
4.2.3 General Requirements
This will contain an overview of the fabrication requirement of fire fighting,
fire and gas alarm and detection equipment.
4.2.4 Test and Inspection
This will contain a statement describing the extent of shop test and inspection
for the systems and or equipment, if necessary.
4.2.5 Equipment Data
This part should contain the detailed technical specification necessary for the
material selection and fabrication of systems and or equipment. The following
are considered as a minimum, depending on the applicability:
4.2.5.1 Fire Fighting Equipment
4.2.5.1.1 Equipment description or Type
4.2.5.1.2 Item no. (optional)
4.2.5.1.3 Service
4.2.5.1.4 Fluid to be handled
4.2.5.1.5 Rated capacity
4.2.5.1.6 Pressures (operating and design)
4.2.5.1.7 Vertical and horizontal movement (for Monitor)
4.2.5.1.8 Spray pattern (for spray, sprinkler and the same)
4.2.5.1.9 Spray angle (for spray, sprinkler and the same)
4.2.5.1.10 Connections (in/out)
4.2.5.1.11 Materials of construction
4.2.5.1.12 Monitor control panel (for monitor)
4.2.5.1.13 Accessories (optional)
4.2.5.1.14 Discharge time (for fire extinguishers)
4.2.5.1.15 Throwing length (for fire extinguishers)
4.2.5.1.16 Extinguishing medium

confirmation before issuing the data sheet to key person for review and finally to
Senior Lead Engineer for Approval.

5.0 PRODUCT VERIFICATION

The Data Sheet is the basis for the design; material selection and fabrication of all fire
fighting, fire and gas alarm and detection equipment. It is therefore necessary that it will
contain all the relevant technical specifications for the smooth execution of vendor and
manufacturer’s work.

Basically, the Standard Output Checklist for Data Sheet (Refer to Attachment) must be
satisfied as a minimum.
