Frederic Chopin was a Polish pianist and composer who created music such as Nocturnes, Op. 9 No. 1 and Prelude, Op. 28, No. 4 despite facing challenges. He refused to stop playing piano even when he couldn't compete and continued teaching and performing publicly while suffering from tuberculosis. Franz Liszt was inspired by Niccolo Paganini to try and achieve on piano what Paganini did on violin. He worked hard, practicing for hours daily and learning from others to become a great artist. Camille Saint-Saens was a child piano prodigy and later an acclaimed organist, writer and composer who explored many fields from a young age.

Frederic Chopin

Compositions: Nocturnes, Op.9 No. 1, Piano Concerto No.1, Prelude, Op. 28, No. 4

Motivation: Chopin’s motivation to continue making music is that even when he couldn’t compete with
other pianists, he refuses to stop playing piano. He is also a teacher by using his talent or passion. He is
very afraid of performing in front of the crowd but still managed to perform publicly (on his concert in
1848). He also continues to give piano lessons even though he is suffering from the symptoms of
tuberculosis. https://myhero.com/fr%C3%A9d%C3%A9ric-chopin#:~:text=Chopin's%20motivation

Lesson: Chopin is a brave man, what I have learned from him is that we have to face our fears even the
worst ones because when we do, we will no longer be afraid of it after. Don’t be affected of what people
may say about you just because you can’t compete with other people, just do whatever makes you
happy and satisfied.

Franz Liszt

Com: Liebestraum, Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2, Ballade No. 2 in B minor

Mot: Liszt’s inspiration was Niccolo Paganini. His first compositions were judged and criticized. But
because of Paganini, he did not lose hope, he tried to piano what Paganini is going to violin and he
succeeded. He also worked very hard, he practiced for four to five hours a day, he learned from his co-
artists and claimed that he will be an artist. https://www.pianotv.net/2018/09/24-fascinating-facts-

Les: The lesson that I learned from Liszt is to not give up easily for your dreams. Achieve them and have
some hope, aim high but make sure to reach it. Don’t just continuously dream, do something to achieve
it, work hard for it.

Camille Saint-Saens

Com: The Swan, Samsom and Delilah-Bacchanale, Symphony No. 2

Mot: Saint-Saens was a child prodigy on the piano. He started playing piano at a very young age. He is
not just a pianist, he is also an organist, writer of criticism, essay, poetry and plays. Liszt, his friend,
considered him as the greatest organist around the world.

Les: You can start exploring things at a young age and enjoy things that make you happy. It was never
been too early or too late to explore and learn things, as long as it makes you happy, do it.

Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky
