Women’s Month Celebration

Rationale:

DepEd Memorandum no. 017, s. 2023, the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW)
spearheads the annual National Women’s Month Celebration (NWMC) to honor women and
their contributions to nation- building. It highlights the need to protect, promote, and fulfil
women’s right so they can maximize their potential and welfare, enabling them to be agent of the
country’s development.
Besides, the country also celebrates Girl Child Week and Women with Disabilities Day
within Women’s Month pursuant to PP 759, s. of 1996 declaring every fourth week of March as
the protection and Gender-Fair Treatment of the Girl Child Week, and PP no. 774, s. of 2004,
declaring the last Monday of March of every year as Women with Disabilities Day.
This year new recurring theme: WE for gender equality and inclusive society. This reminds
us that together in this pursuit toward gender equality. This calls us for inclusivity ; to envision a
society where everyone is afforded their rights, no matter their gender, class, status or ability.
In line with the celebration, the school provide a program where women and girls are
being valued and appreciated with their contribution to the development of the community and in
the country. This will serve them an opportunity to embrace their rights and to have courage to
utilize the benefits already available for them.
Objectives:
 To promote awareness about women’s rights and inclusivity
 To emphasize women and everyone role in gender equality
 To empower gender equality and inclusive society
 To appreciate the contribution of women and girls in the community’s development
 To recognize women and girls' role and importance
