B. Capital Investment Required
The primary expense to establish our bakery has an estimated cost of 500,000 pesos
we plan to rent of vacant space around the area. Searching for a building that is previously
used as a bakery and we plan to buy the used equipment along with the space. This cost is
also calculated based on our estimated capital. We tend to invest on savings to
cover the other cost of start-up.
The first aspect to consider, is the establishment costs. Establishment costs are the
costs involved before operations start, and will usually be one-off, for example:
-Registration of the business
-Product testing costs.
-Cost of business premises
-Cost of machinery and equipment
The next aspect to consider, is the operating costs. Operating costs can be defined as
the cost to run the businesses on a monthly basis, in other words, the monthly expenses.
After the operating costs have been calculated, one can determine what the break-
even turnover will be. It is essential that the turnover be higher than the required level for
breaking even, in order to realize a profit.
