I.OBJECTIVES At the end of the lesson the learners are expected

a. identify the different principles of design
present in the various art movements;
b. appreciate the different principles of
design; and
c. create your own artwork by applying the
principles of design based on the example
of arts.

A. Introduction What I need to know

In this part, learners will take note of the gist


of the lesson. Do you know that there were
several areas in which impressionist artists
moved away from the established practices
of art at that time?
These involved their use of color,
choice of subject matter and setting,
and technique for capturing light and
conveying movement.

What’s new?

Using learners’ prior knowledge about the


elements of arts, they will describe, analyze,
interpret and judge the given painting below
based from the guide questions in every
column.

What’s in?
At this point, the learners will have a
realization that Art can be seen in all
aspect of life. It is everywhere. It can
be seen in the surroundings. The
popular feeling about art is that it exists
only in concert halls, museums, and art
galleries in a world by itself, which are
accessible only to those who can
afford to pay for its enjoyment or to
the critics and scholars who take time
to study the art and objects of the art.
The teacher will introduce the topic
Principles of Design.
The teacher is also tasked to show pictures
of each element and principle allowing
the learners to familiarized with it.

What is it?
Let the learners describe Principles of Design
based on how they have understood the
lesson.
The teacher will share this:
Art and beauty can be
expressed in many ways- in natural
beauty of huge old trees or in the
created beauty of a painting of
those trees like in the work of Van
Gogh “Large Plane Trees”.

The learners will copy the design and
draw it to your paper. Materials: Pencil,
eraser, short bond paper or oslo paper.

Allow the learners to know that every


person has his/her own God’s
unique talent

analyze the notable work, the scream by

8. Is there something about this artwork that you
think should have been done differently? What?

In this part of the lesson, the learners will


complete the crossword in Assessment 2
by filling in a word that fits each clue.
