ANALYTICAL BALANCE

SCOPE:

This standard procedure is applicable for operating and calibration of the analytical balance
for better and error free used to measure mass of the sample.

PROCEDURE:

1- Make sure that the balance is kept clean & place of flat platform free from vibration.
2- Ensure that the calibration status is valid.
3- Ensure that the spirit level is in the centre of the circle.
4- Connect to power cable to the main switch ON.
5- Press ON/OFF key , all the display will glow.
6- Adjust the air bubbles to the inner circle of the indicator by rotating the two leveling
screws at the rear base of the balance.
7-Calibrate the weighing balance with certified standard weight. Ensure that the weights used
are calibrated and certified on regular basis.
8- Note down the room temperature monitoring that the temperature & humidity is
accordance to standard.
9- The stability is of the reading is obtained and is indicated by an arrow marked on the left
side of the display.
10- Place the material to be weighed on the PAN and note down the reading after the arrow
mark appears on the left side of the display.
11- For the measure sample always use tweezers place the weigh on the balance pan.
12- Do not drop the weight with force on the pan of the balance , to avoid any variation in
result.
13- After the weigh use should always be clean with tissue before and after.

Weekly and after maintenance must check spirit level, pan adjustment and cleaning , zero
error check , accuracy , precision / measurement uncertainty.
