WHAT IS SELF STUDY?


Self-studying is a learning method where students direct their own studying—outside the classroom and
without direct supervision.

Self-study and traditional methods of learning can be used together to help students to get the most out of
thier learning experience. Together, these methods help students learn and retain information better,
helping boost comprehension, understanding, and motivation. By practising self-study, students are
encouraged to further explore topics they are interested in, developing stronger knowledge and skills as a
result.

Axiom College via our trainers and workplace assessors will ensure that you have acquired the supporting
knowledge and skills to enable you to apply that knowledge and skill to industry standards and to new
situations and workplaces some of this learning may be through self paced learning and your own
research.

Instructions for this Self Study Guide

Each individual study guide will have a QR code to assist you in searching for the right subject matter. The
information below shows how to use these codes

How to Scan a QR Code


You will need a to have a QR Code reader installed on your smartphone, you’re ready to scan your first
QR Code. Doing so is very easy. Just follow these simple steps.

1. Open the QR Code reader on your phone


2. Hold your device over a QR Code so that it’s clearly visible within your smartphone’s screen.
3. Two things can happen when you correctly hold your smartphone over a QR Code.
a. The phone automatically scans the code.
b. You have to press a button on your phone to snap a picture.
4. If necessary, press the button.
5. Your smartphone reads the code and navigates to the intended destination.

How to Complete the Self Paced Learner Tasks


Each unit of competency in this qualification has a number of elements. To assist you with gaining the
required knowledge for your course find attached a list of the elements, the requirements within the
elements and the research hours required for each element.

Once you have completed the research you will need to refer to the email sent to you at the beginning of
