College Connect Application

1) Background/ Problem Statement

As we still continue to battle the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, it has become


very difficult for college students to keep in touch with the faculties &
professors to get their problems solved. Earlier we had to personally visit the
college and had to meet the concerned person to get our queries solved, but
the ongoing pandemic has brought a complete halt to this approach &
switching to an alternative method has become a dire need nowadays. Also, it
has become very difficult for the college management to convey any important
notice or message to all the students as all the college faculty members &
students may not be using the same messaging app. Hence to solve this issue
we at Nevon Projects have come up with an android based College Connect
Chat application where all the students & teachers can stay connected
together on a single platform, thereby helping all the students to be in
constant touch with the faculties and making it possible for them to get their
problems solved in an instant. Hence, this android based application will help
students to be in contact with their fellow mates & professors all the time
without being physically present in a classroom.

2) Working of the Project

This system is basically a kind of forum where teachers and faculties can
come together and share their view. The Admin is the College here who is
responsible to create profiles of all the students and faculties. There are four
kinds of levels or forums involved here:

 College - here all the students and faculties can participate and admin
can add events and circulars.
 Department – all the students and faculties can participate of the same
department can participate.
 Year – all the students can participate of the same Year.
 Section – all the students can participate of the same Section.
3) Advantages
 Instead of using any 3rd party app, the college has its own chatting
application.

 Accounts are created directly by admin, so no place for intruders.

 Forums are segregated based on Levels i.e. Section or Year or


Department etc.

 Students and Faculties can chat with their each other on personal
levels i.e. no forums.
4) System Description
The system comprises of 3 major modules with their sub-modules as
follows:
1. Admin:
 Login: Admin can login into his account using id and password.
 Manage Student: Admin can manage all the students.
 Manage Faculty: Admin can manage all the faculties.
 Upload Events/Circulars: Admin has the sole user to upload
events and circulars.

2. Faculty:
 Login: Faculty can login their personal account using id and
password.
 Home: Link Buttons for Departmental and college Forums.
 Students: Faculty can view all recent chats with students or
initiate a new chat with any student by searching them.
 Notification: Faculty will be notified when a student sends them a
new message.

3. Students:
 Login: Student can login into their accounts by their credentials.
 Home: Link Button for Departmental, Section, year and college
Forums.
 Student: Students can view all recent chats with other students in
their sections or initiate a new chat with any student by searching
them.
 Faculty: Students can view all recent chats with their who ae
teaching them from the same department or initiate a new chat
with any student by searching them.
 Notification: Student will be notified when they receive any new
message.
5) Project Life Cycle

The waterfall model is a classical model used in system development life


cycle to create a system with a linear and sequential approach. It is termed as
waterfall because the model develops systematically from one phase to
another in downward fashion. The waterfall approach does not define the
process to go back to the previous phase to handle changes in requirement.
The waterfall approach is the earliest approach that was used for software
development
6) System Requirement

I. Hardware Requirement

i. Laptop or PC
 I3 processor system or higher
 4 GB RAM or higher
 100 GB ROM or higher

ii. Android Phone (6.0 and above)

II. Software Requirement

i. Laptop or PC
 Windows 7 or higher
 Android Studio
7) Limitation/Disadvantages

 Wrong inputs will affect the project outputs.


 Internet Connection is mandatory.
 Messages cannot be deleted.

8) Application – This system can be used by any College who needs an


Internal Closed Chat Forum.
