Time Component Activity Apparatus and set up Commentary

INTRODUCTION (Warm up)


 jogging  javelins x 5
5 minutes  stretching  cones x 10
 tape measure

MAIN LESSON
 safety  Review safety equipment for javelin.
 grip and  Demonstrate the various grips.
35 carry  Explain and demonstrate what is meant by carry and
minutes withdrawal which are important concepts for the javelin throw.
 controlling  Hold the javelin using the preferred grip.
the javelin  Practice throwing the using a stable action.
 Begin holding the javelin in the carry position releasing it unto
the ground approximately 4-5 meters in front of the thrower.
 Repeat 3-5 throws per learners.

 standing  Stand in starting position.


throw  Step forward unto the front foot and release javelin at a 45°
angle.
 Repeat 3-5 throws per learner.

 3 stride  Begin with foot together.


cross step
throw  The javelin is in the carry position and should always be
pointing towards the throwing direction.
 The three stride involves:
1. Thrower steps unto the left foot and withdraws the
javelin.
2. Steps across and in front of the leg when stepping onto
the right foot.
3. Ground the right foot stepping quickly unto the left and
release the javelin into the sector.
 Repeat 5-8 times and ensure that the throwing area is clear
before throwing.

CONCLUSION (Cool down)


5 minutes  stretch  learners should stretch as a warm down shoulders, back and
legs.
