1. INTRODUCTION
• XsitePAD is a tool for project foremans and surveyors to handle data at model based work
site.
• With XsitePAD you can do surveying and stake out.
• You can use XsitePAD with devices own GNSS location but also with more accurate external
GNSS smart antenna.
• Default password for device is xsitepad.

2. GENERAL SETTINGS
2.1 Deployment

Remove back cover of tablet and place battery and sim card (if needed)

2.1.1 Pairing with external GNSS antenna (Bluetooth)

Before you can use XsitePAD with external GNSS antenna you have to pair devices for
bluetooth pair.

When pairing has made once it will automatically pair devices in future, when devices are in
bluetooth range.

2.1.1 GNSS antenna pairing (Bluetooth)

Settings -> Devices -> Bluetooth -> GNSS-xxxxxxx -> Pair

2.1.2 Language

Settings -> Installation settings -> Language -> Select your language -> OK -> Close -> Project -> Exit

Default language is
English.

Selected language
will be activated
after LandNova is
restarted.

Settings -> Enter stake height -> Set your pole height

Options -> Profile / crossection -> Enabled

If you want to see


cross-section view,
you have to select
centerline which
determine how to
draw cross-section.

Project -> Read file -> Centerline -> Select

You can also select


centerline by long
press with finger
above wanted
centerline.
In this case only
data under your
finger will appear.

2.2. Color settings

Options -> Color settings

You can select colors for models if there is no


configuration file used.
You can also select which backround map is
visible.

3. POSITIONING SETTINGS
3.1 Positioning with external GNSS antenna

Settings -> Installation settings -> Select ”Generic GGA” -> Port setup

If you use geoid


model, select ”Add
geoidal separation
to Z”.

Check that all other


options are not
selected.

3.1 Positioning with external GNSS antenna

Select: ComPorts: Standard Serial over Bluetooth (COM4) or (COM5) -> Assign selected as GNSS1

Positioning is working when satellite box in


bottom right of map screen is green.

You can have additional GNSS info by selecting


GNSS tab.

It might take a while before there is enough


satellite for accurate positioning.

3.2 XsitePad internal positioning

Settings -> Installation settings -> Select: ”Generic low precision GGA” -> Port setup

If you want to use survey features with internal


positioning then select ”Generic GGA”.

Without external GNSS antenna positioning is


not accurate!

Select: ”ComPorts: u-blox Virtual COM Port (COM2) -> Assign selected as GNSS1 -> Close

3.3 Simulator mode

Settings -> Installation settings -> Select ”Joystick / Keyboard”

Positioning is not use in this


mode and LandNova is working
as simulator mode.

This mode allows you to use


LandNova inside and helps you
when you practice this software.

4. DATA TRANSFER
4.1 USB memory
Project -> Import from USB -> Select project you want to import -> Import

From now on you can find imported project


from Project -> Open Project Folder

When using USB memory project folder have


to be located at USB root.

When using USB memory then USB is


”master” and LandNova is a ”slave”. This
means that all project data has to be located
at USB memory if you want to update
something (except as-built).

4.2 FTP service

Project -> Import from FTP -> Select project you want to import

You need to have user ID for


using FTP.
This user ID must be entered in
LandNova installation settings.
Read more 4.4.

In future you can find FTP project


at Project -> Open project

4.3 Manual as-built export

Project -> Export Collected Points -> Specify the settings you want -> Export

You can select which format you


use.

Select if you want to export data


to USB memory or FTP service.

You can select if you only want to


export new data (after last export)
or do you want to export all data.

4.4 Automated as-built export

Settings -> Installation settings -> Data Log -> Set requested user information -> Specify
export settings -> Close

You can ask FTP user ID from


Xsite support team.

4.5 Infrakit

Launch InfrakitClient -> Don’t close InfrakitClient -> Launch LandNova -> Settings ->
Installation settings -> Data Log -> Set Machine ID -> Close

InfrakitClient has to run in behind


when service is used.

Machine ID is a link between


LandNova and Infrakit service.

For adding XsitePAD to Infrakit


you need to have Admin user
rights for Infrakit service.

5. Survey
5.1 Select object
Project -> Read File -> Select object -> Select

This way you can select all object


which are in project.

Surfaces, Lines, Centerlines, Points


and Slopes are in separated tabs.

Use your finger by pressing above object -> Select object -> Select

In this way you can select object


which are under your finger.

Surfaces, Lines, Centerlines, Points


and Slopes are in separated tabs.

5.2 Surface

Select ”Surface” tab on map screen -> Select measurable surface by following instruction 5.1

In ”Surface” mode you will see your location on map screen


and cross-section view. You can see selected surface
highlighted on cross-section view.

Height difference between selected surface and GNSS pole.

Absolute height of GNSS pole.

Amount of tracked satellites. Automated as-built surveying


by pressing this icon.

5.3 Point

Select ”Point” tab on map screen -> Select measurable point by following instruction 5.1

In ”Point” mode you will see your location on map screen.


There is also information about selected point and
navigation arrow. You can select which information you
want to see Options -> Active point attributes

Height difference between selected point and GNSS pole

Distance to selected point.

Side distance to selected point.

Absolute height of GNSS pole.

5.4. Line

Select ”Line” tab on map screen -> Select measurable line by following instruction 5.1

In ”Line” mode you will see your location relation to


selected line. You can also see name and slope value of
selected line on map screen.

5.5. Pinta+Linja

Select ”DTM+Line” tab on map screen -> Select measurable surface and line by following
instruction 5.1

When selecting DTM+Line you can have differences in both


surface and line at same time.

Height difference between selected surface and GNSS pole.

Side distance to selected line.

Amount of tracked satellites. Automated as-built surveying.

5.6. Surveying (Log)

Select ”Log” tab on map screen -> Select correct code for object -> OK -> Save pos:1

From Log tab you can survey


objects and give them codes from
a code list. You can also use codes
without codelist.

You can give a name for a point


by clicking ”Point name”
