Smart Controller

This document provides instructions for the VFRU-ERVT-02SS Smart Controller. It can monitor indoor air quality and control ventilation systems. The controller uses touch buttons to switch between power, modes, fan speeds and other settings. It displays real-time measurements of temperature, humidity, CO2 and PM2.5 levels. Users can customize settings like concentration thresholds, timer schedules and filter maintenance alerts. Wiring diagrams show how to connect the controller to energy recovery ventilators or fresh air supply fans to control them.

VFRU-ERVT-02SS Smart Controller Instruction Manual

1. Introduction:
VFRU-ERVT-02SS adopts touch button technology; make the operation flexible and convenient. Built-in
sensors can monitor real-time indoor temperature, humidity, CO2 concentration, PM2.5 concentration;
Controller output signal can control the startup and speed of ventilator directly.
It is widely used in residential, commercial and industrial applications, and could effectively improve air
quality, create a healthy, comfortable, energy-efficient living and working environment.

2. Buttons’ function:
1. button:Power on/off
2. button:Used to lower the setpoint
3. button:Used to raises the setpoint
4. button:Set clock and timer parameters
5. button:Turn on or off the bypass valve (Only applicable to models with internal circulation function)
6. button:Switch operation mode

3. Panel display:

4. Detailed explanation:
1. Power on / off: press button to power on or off, all the output & display closed when power is off.
2. Switch operation mode: press button, the operation mode will switch automatically in three mode:
“AUTO – MANUAL – TIMER”. Controller will switch an operation mode when press the button every time.
3. MANUAL mode: users set the fan speed, not affected by timer or air quality, adjust fan speed by or .
4. Timer mode: fan will run according to time & speed setting. It can be set from Sunday to Saturday, 4
periods every day, and 28 periods in total.
5. Auto mode – controller adjust fan speed according to air quality (The defaults of CO2 and PM2.5
concentrations are as below) automatically.
Fan speed \ Sensor CO2 PM2.5
High speed ≥ 1100 ppm ≥ 70 μg/m3
OR
Medium speed 800 ~ 1099 ppm 35 ~ 69 μg/m3
Low speed 600 ~ 799 ppm 0 ~ 34 μg/m3
6. Set concentration value under auto mode: press for 2 seconds under auto mode, then start CO2
concentration value setting, the original CO2 concentration value will display the Low speed default 600 and
blinks, press and buttons to change the number. Press for 2 seconds under auto mode, then start
PM2.5 concentration value setting, the original PM2.5 concentration value will display the Low speed default
00 and blinks, press and buttons to change the number. Controller will return to normal working status
and save setting parameter automatically if users do not press any buttons more than 10 seconds during the
setting process.
** The CO2 and PM2.5 concentrations of the High & Medium fan speeds in auto mode will be changed
synchronously according to the new Low speed settings. For example: If the Low speed CO2 concentration
value is changed from 600 to 700, and the Low speed PM2.5 concentration value is changed from 0 to 10,
the concentration value is changed as follows.
Fan speed \ Sensor CO2 PM2.5
High speed ≥ 1200 ppm ≥ 80 μg/m3
OR
Medium speed 900 ~ 1199 ppm 45 ~ 79 μg/m3
Low speed 700 ~ 899 ppm 10 ~ 44 μg/m3

7. Timer parameter setting: press for 2 seconds to start timer parameter setting, first set the clock, press
button to switch week, hour and minute, the corresponding parameter will flicker, press and buttons
to change the number. After the clock setting finish, press button to enter the first period hour setting on
Monday, press button to switch hour, minute and fan speed, press and buttons to change the
number. After finish the setting, press button to enter the second period hour setting on Monday….
Repeat above steps to finish all the 28 periods setting. Controller will return to normal working status and
save setting parameter automatically if users do not press any buttons more than 10 seconds during the
setting process.
8. Setting ID for RS-485 communication: Press for 3 seconds to set ID, the position where CO2
concentration value was shown originally will display the ID setting value and blink, press and buttons
to change the number. The ID range is 1 ~ 255, and the default value is 1. Controller will return to normal
working status and save setting parameter automatically if users do not press any buttons more than 10
seconds during the setting process.
** RS485 interface define please refer to Delta Fresh Air System Control Unit Interface Specification.
9. Filter maintenance alarm: Press button for 3 seconds to enter the filter working time setting, the
position where the clock was shown originally will display the set value and blink, press and buttons to
change the number. The setting range is 100 ~ 9999, and the default value is 2000. Controller will return to
normal working status and save setting parameter automatically if users do not press any buttons more than
10 seconds during the setting process. After the ventilator starts, the filter working time starts to count. When
the filter working time exceeds the setting time, the filter alarm icon will display and blink, it indicates the
filter should be cleaned or replaced. Press for 3 seconds under timer mode, the position where the clock
was shown originally will display the time the filter has been working. Press for 3 seconds to reset the
filter working time.

7. Installation:
Note: Please turn off the power before wiring.
1. There are three types of switch box can be selected to use:
(1) If the switch box is typeⅠ, and the screw spacing of switch box is 83.5mm as shown in Figure 1, users
must first assemble the adapter plate in the accessory to the switch box with four self-tapping screws Ø 4×
30mm. Then pull the signal cable into the switch box, and then pull it out, as shown in Figure 2.

2. Use a tool or hand to open the snap at the bottom of the back cover of the controller, as shown in Figure 7.
Then according to the number of the wiring diagram, use a slotted screwdriver to loosen the corresponding
screw of the terminal block, insert the signal wire into the corresponding slot of the terminal block and lock it,
as shown in Figures 8 ~ 9.
Note: Please make sure the signal cable is connected and secured to avoid the problem of short circuit
caused by the drop of the signal cable.
