A) GENERAL INFORMATION

The Metal Clad Switchgear shall be inspected to record ratings, serial number,
etc. The test will be performed for each columns of the MV swg 027-SG-201.

B) MECHANICAL CHECK AND VISUAL INSPECTION

Mechanical check and visual inspection shall be considered to ensure that the
metal clad switchgear is free from physical damage and that it is installed as per
drawings. Tightness, grounding and phase indications shall also be checked.

1. Inspect for physical, electrical and mechanical conditions.

2. Compare equipment nameplate information with approved scheme
3. Check for proper anchorage, required area clearances, physical damage,
and proper alignment.
4. Verify that current and potential transformer ratios correspond to drawings.
5. Inspect all bus connection for high resistance. Check tightness of bolted
bus joints by using a calibrated torque wrench.
6. Test all electrical and mechanical interlock systems for proper operation
and sequencing.
7. Inspect all mechanical indication devices for proper operation.

C) EQUIPMENT TESTING
CT and VT testing
Insulation resistance shall be done
Primary to Earth (5kV)
Primary to Secondary (2.5kV)
Secondary to Earth (1kV)
Secondary to Secondary cores (1kV)

Ratio, winding resistance and Knee point shall be done with CT analyzer and the date shall be
recorded and compared with FAT

For VT ratio test and winding resisrtance it shall be done with the analyzer and compared with
FAT.
METHOD OF STATEMENT FOR MV SWGR TESTING
OVER CURRENT AND EARTH FAULT RELAY

Over current Pick-up

 Provide the testing relays setting for over current on the relay.
 Connect the current test set on the relay current terminals.
 Slowly increase the current until the pick-up indication operates.
 Record the operating current.
Operating Time Verification
 Provide the testing relays setting for over current on the relay.
 Select the time over current curve on the relay.
 Connect the current test set on the relay current terminals.
 Connect the timer to the relay tripping contact
 Inject testing current and monitor the operating time of the relay.
 Record the operating time.

Under Voltage Verification

 Provide the testing relays setting on the relay
 Connect the voltage test set on the relay voltage terminals
 Connect the timer to the relay tripping contact
 Applied the operating voltage on the relay and slowly reduce the voltage until the relay
pick-up
 Record the pick-up voltage
Delay Time Verification
 Select the operating time on the relay
 Connect the voltage test set on the relay voltage terminals
 Connect the timer to the relay tripping contact
 Inject the testing voltage and monitor the operating time of the relay
 Record the operating time
EARTH FAULT RELAY
 Provide the testing relays setting on the relay
 Connect the voltage test set on the relay voltage terminals
 Connect the timer to the relay tripping contact
 Applied the operating voltage on the relay and slowly increase the voltage until the relay
pick-up
 Record the pick-up voltage
Delay Time Verification
 Select the operating time on the relay
 Connect the voltage test set on the relay voltage terminals
 Connect the timer to the relay tripping contact
 Apply the testing voltage and monitor the operating time of the relay
 Record the operating time.

TESTING OF METERING ACCURACY BY SECONDARY INJECTION

AMMETER CHECK

 Connect the current test set on the ammeter terminals.

 Inject 50, 75 & 100 % of the full-scale current of the ammeter on different phases and check
for neutral current
 Record the corresponding ammeter readings.
 Inject 100 % of the normal current.
 Record corresponding ammeter reading.
METHOD OF STATEMENT FOR MV SWGR TESTING
VOLTMETER CHECK
 Connect the voltage test set on the voltmeter terminals.
 Apply 100 % of the full-scale voltage of the voltmeter.
 Record the corresponding voltmeter readings.
KWH METER CHECK
 Connect the current test set terminals to the KWH meter current terminals.
 Connect the voltage test set terminals to the KWH meter voltage terminals.
 Apply 100 % of the rated power.
 Record the corresponding KWH meter readings.

CONTACT RESISTANCE CHECK OF PRIMARY CIRCUITS

 After the Switchgear has been assembled the primary circuits are checked for proper
Tightness and Electrical contact / mating at the joints to ensure that there will not be any
heating due to high resistance at the joints or mating of male female contacts of the
withdraw able breakers.
 The micro ohmmeter test is conducted with a current of 100 ADC.

PRIMARY INJECTION TEST

 Connect the primary injection test set terminals on the primary terminals of CT.
 Inject 100 amps current between two feeders for each phase
 Record the corresponding reading of the secondary for all cores and phases.

CIRCUIT BREAKER CHECKS

CONTACT RESISTANCE MEASUREMENTS.

 Close all CBS
 The micro ohmmeter test is conducted with a current of 100 ADC.
 Connect the test set to the first phase of the CB.
 Record the reading.
 Repeat it for all CB phases.

CB MECHANICAL OPERATING (TIMING) TEST

 Connect the test set to the CB.
 Perform the following operations at the rated DCV.
 Close ( C )
 Open ( O )
 Close - Open ( C – O )
 Record the corresponding readings.

HIGH- POT TEST

 AC high- pot test shall be carried out at site.
 The test will carry out at test voltage 24 kV fore 60 second and measure leakage current
 The test will carry out at CB open for one time and VT racked out
